Almost 14 years since the last episode of ‘Teen Titans’ aired, fans are still hoping for Season 6, picking up where the series left off. The petition, started by one Royal Silva, calls for DC Entertainment, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim to bring back the series with the original cast.

After the series’ cancellation, the characters of Robin (Scott Menville), Starfire (Hynden Walch), Beast Boy (Greg Cipes), Cyborg (Khary Pation) and Raven (Tara Strong) were brought back in a new series called ‘Teen Titans Go!’ Aimed at a younger audience, ‘Teen Titans Go!’ is a very different show from the original animated series, focusing on over-the-top silliness and parody humor instead of the more dramatic, procedural storytelling of the original ‘Teen Titans.’

‘Teen Titans Go!’ has been decried by fans of the original series, who criticize its quality, and believe that the original series should be brought back in its place.

The petition talks about the original series, the Anime Awards nominations it received, and why there’s no reason the show can’t return to air despite its cancellation years ago, citing the resurrection of the ‘Samurai Jack’ series. “Samurai Jack when it came back early 2017, was a very different show from when it first aired in 2001-04. We can tell it was more action-packed, there were bigger stakes and more violence that was grounded in reality,” says the petition.

While there have been no reports of a Season 6 in the works, the original ‘Teen Titans’ did make an appearance in the animated crossover movie, ‘Teen Titans Go! vs Teen Titans’, which saw both versions of the characters battle each other before teaming up to fight a greater threat.

‘Teen Titans Go!’ is quite aware of its detractors, and regularly parody them on the show, most notably in the character Control Freak (Alexander Polinsky), who in one episode showed the ‘Teen Titans Go!’ characters how good the original ‘Teen Titans’ series show used to be.

The petition continues to get signatures to this day, and as of writing this article, the petition has reached 22,168 signatures. You can find the petition here.

In the meanwhile, ‘Teen Titans Go!’ continues to air on Cartoon Network. It’s now into Season 6, and its next episode airs December 21.
