NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The Sunday afternoon saw comedian Pete Davidson losing his cool at a middle-aged man who seemed to invade his personal space. The ‘Saturday Night Live’ alum spent April 23 afternoon watching the New York Knicks win it big in an NBA playoff fixture against Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden in New York City with comedian Jon Stewart.

After the match, as ‘The King of Staten Island’ star was taking selfies with his fans, one middle-aged man intruded on his personal space as he tried to put his arm on ‘The Suicide Squad’ star’s shoulders. That act elicited an irate response from Davidson, who then pushed the man back.

Pete Davidson reveals how many women he dated in 12 years amid public’s ‘crazy’ interest in his personal life

As the clip of the incident shared by Clique Productions on Twitter went viral, it garnered over 100K views and 1.6K likes. While some users dissed the ‘Meet Cute’ actor for the act, many supported his action of trying to protect his personal space.

How does Pete Davidson behave with fans?

Davidson usually maintains an easy camaraderie with fans and he often reacts to fans’ criticism or praise online. In 2018, one such incident took place where the ‘Set It Up’ star’s then-girlfriend Ariana Grande was seen wearing the FDNY badge worn by his father Scott Davidson who was martyred during the September 11 attacks. Prior to Grande’s wearing the badge, his other ex-girlfriend Cazzie David was also seen wearing a similar piece. As one fan commented, “It’s so ridiculous that he gave it to his ex and said the same thing.” Davidson replied, “Actually, I didn’t give that to my ex. Yes, she had one, but it was a replica. I had a bunch of replicas made. My sister and grandpa also have one. The one that Ari has is the one my dad actually died in and the one he wore his entire career and the one I’ve worn for over 17 years. I’ve actually never taken it off other than for SNL or work. So it means a lot to me. Hope this helps. Please learn to be nicer and not to assume the worst in people. It’s a terrible way to live. Much love,” reports Billboard.

In 2020, a fan named Arianna met with the ‘Bupkis’ star outside the NBC Studios, where SNL is filmed. As the fan shouted, "My name is Arianna too,” referring to the musical sensation Ariana Grande who is his ex-fiance, Davidson jokingly replied, "Oh. Well, hello. . . Let's get married!”, reports Insider.

'Smooth Pete, smooth'

After the video clip of Dsvidson shoving a fan went viral, one user commented said, "Not a Pete fan but I don’t blame him for that one bit. Personal space." Another supported Davidson by saying, "In all the other clips I've seen that guy is there, trying to grab at him. He'd obviously been annoying him a while."

Another reiterated, "If you watch this is slow motion, that man is overstepping boundaries and personal space. Very weird how he got in petes face and space like that."

"Don’t like Pete at all but he’s right in that situation. Old boy was getting to personal," commented another. Another applauded Davdson's move and wrote, "Dude was all in Pete’s personal space! I’d have deck him! Smooth Pete, smooth."

Another hawk-eyed netizen remarked, "Bro went from being ready to duel to cheesing for a picture to being back to angry in about 4ish seconds."

"Being a celebrity sucks lool," commented one. "Lmao. Someone likes Pete and rested their head on his shoulder. A little kindness and depression pills would have made this a much smoother transaction," remarked another fan.
