After Harry and Meghan Markle completed their last leg of royal engagements before they officially step down from their roles on March 31, there was reportedly a sigh of relief from the palace staff as none of the staffers wanted to serve the Duchess of Sussex anymore.

“Meghan was basically the boss from hell,” a royal source told Life & Style magazine, according to New Idea. “Meghan is a perfectionist and if things don’t go her way, all hell breaks loose."

The anonymous source went onto add that the mother-of-one was almost willing to hold the British monarch to ransom if she did not get whatever she wanted, to the effect that the Queen had to agree to set her and her grandson free. “It was almost like she was threatening the Queen — give her what she wants or she’ll embarrass her more in public," the insider said.

Another royal source, on the other hand, told National Enquirer that it was the Queen who took the decision to oust Meghan from the firm. “Her Majesty’s message is clear — and chilling. Harry and Meghan are OUT!” a high-level courtier said.

But instead of allowing the pair to exit quietly, the monarch took her silent revenge when she disallowed them from participating in the procession through Westminster Abbey at the start of the Commonwealth Service this year. “Payback can be brutal — as Harry and Meghan just found out with Her Majesty’s public smackdown!”

The source added: “The queen commanded Harry and Meghan to join the family for their last appearance as working royals before they quit and move to North America. But in a humiliating snub, she cut them out of the procession. They were forced to walk to their seats — and were relegated to the second row, behind the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla and Prince William and Kate."

The gesture did not go down well with the Duchess whose initial reaction was to ditch the ceremony altogether and let her husband make up an excuse for her absence.

“Meghan was furious — this was a huge blow to her ego. I’m told her first reaction was to refuse to attend! Last year, when she was pregnant with Archie, she and Harry took pride of place at the service. She demanded to know why William and Kate — who Meghan can’t stand — were walking with the Queen but not them. She ordered Harry to tell his royal relatives she was too sick to go! When Harry protested, she retorted, ‘I AM sick — sick of your family!'" the source said.
