MANHATTAN, NEW YORK:  A gunman open fired on West 46th Street near 9th Avenue in Manhattan on Saturday night, April 29, after an argument on the sidewalk. A video shows terrified pedestrians running for cover. One person was shot in Hell’s Kitchen during the shooting. The incident took place after an argument on the sidewalk.

Two men can be seen in the footage, one in a black jacket and another in a blue jacket, seemingly arguing on the sidewalk outside a Japanese restaurant. Pedestrians are seen walking by without paying heed. “What? What? . . . Stop playin’, bro!” the man in the blue jacket says and walks away, out of frame.

The man in black can be heard saying, “What’s up, n-word,” after about 10 seconds, and then shots can be heard ringing out. He appears in the video again, holding what looks like a gun at point-blank range, and fires. Pedesrians are seen scrambling to save themselves. The shooter eventually fled, according to New York Post

'That was very scary'

The 28-year-old victim was treated at Mount Sinai West Hospital. The person suffered several gunshot wounds to the shoulder and hip, according to police. A second victim was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital by friends.

“It was like two gunshots. I saw a guy limping. I think he got shot in his thigh,” said Ayushma Shrestha, 25, who works at a juice shop near the place where the shooting took place. “I locked the door and we ran to the back.” “That was very scary. I made sure to lock the door so they wouldn’t come in,” she added, calling the incident "terrifying." The condition of the victims is not yet known.

Other recent shootings

This incident comes days after two people reportedly died and four were injured when gunfire erupted into a crowd of multiple of people gathered at a Louisville park. According to the LMPD assistant chief, Lt Paul Humphrey, the shooting took place at 9 pm in Chickasaw Park, where 'hundreds' of people had gathered.

While two people were killed at the park, four others were taken to the hospital, according to police. One of the injured is said to be in critical condition, New York Post reported. Police have not released information on any suspect yet, and do not know how many shooters opened fire.

The Chickasaw Park shooting took place just five miles from where the Old National Bank shooting took place a few days ago. The gunman, Connor Sturgeo, reportedly entered the Old National Bank downtown on April 10 and shot at least five people dead. He wounded at least eight others before being killed in an exchange of gunfire with police.

At the time, President Joe Biden blamed Republicans for the failure to crackdown on the gun violence issue in the country. "How many more Americans must die before Republicans in Congress will act to protect our communities?" he asked. Biden added, "It's long past time that we require safe storage of firearms. Require background checks for all gun sales. Eliminate gun manufacturers' immunity from liability. We can and must do these things now."
