Super Bowl LIV: Paula Abdul mistakes Nicole Scherzinger for Shakira ahead of halftime performance
The Super Bowl 2020 was all set to welcome its half time performers — Shakira and Jennifer Lopez — and Paula Abdul thought that she should take a moment and wish the performers ahead of the game. However, she mistook Nicole Scherzinger for Shakira.
"Can't wait to watch these amazing women perform at the #SuperBowl‼️ #DemiLovato @JLo @shakira xoP," she wrote. While Abdul got the names right, one mistake she did was she included pictures of herself with Demi, Jennifer and Nicole Scherzinger," as reported by Just Jared.
This mistake was corrected by Scherzinger who tweeted in response to the tagged picture. "I mean, my hips don’t lie… but I'm not @shakira babes," she wrote in response. While Abdul made a tiny mistake, there is no doubt that the two ladies put forward a powerful performance.
Both, Shakira and Jennifer left people grooving to their music while also putting on a fierce performance. Everyone was left stunned with how gracefully the two singers had aged and many found it hard to believe that Shakira was 43 and Jennifer 50. However, one thing that did not fit well with the audience was the attire the two women chose to wear for their performance.
Many people thought that the Super Bowl was a family show and that the outfit chosen by the singers did not reflect that. "The Superbowl is supposed to be an event families can watch together. Why, then, are we subjected to Shakira's constant twerking & J Lo's ultra-revealing outfits? Whatever happened to performers whose TALENT was entertaining instead of needing sex to keep people's interest?" read one comment.
Another added, "What the fuck am I watching #SuperBowl halftime show. J lo can someone get her an outfit next time where it doesn't look like she has duct tape on her ass."
