LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hollywood heartthrob of the 1960s, actor Paul Newman has revealed in his posthumous memoir, 'Paul Newman: The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man', what turned him into one of Hollywood’s biggest sex symbols. The 'Paris Blues' actor named his wife, Joanne Woodward who he met in 1953, and wrote "Joanne gave birth to a sexual creature. We left a trail of lust all over the place. Hotels and public parks and Hertz Rent-A-Cars."

The revelation comes from the series of intimate interviews conducted between Newman and his closest friends while creating a memoir for 'The Rack' actor. The Academy Award winner passed away in 2008, however, it took 14 years for the memoir to finally get released.

Newman had shared with one of his interviewers that girls didn’t take him seriously in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where he grew up, "girls thought I was a joke. I went from being not much of a sexual threat to something else entirely,” he opened up in an excerpt from the book, as per People.

The 'Cool Hand Luke' star shared in detail how his wife Woodward surprised him one night with a part of their master bedroom was turned into a "F** Hut" with a "thrift shop double bed." Norman further spilled the beans saying, "It had been done with such affection and delight. Even if my kids came over, we'd go into the F**k Hut several nights a week and just be intimate and noisy and ribald."

It was in Ethan Hawke's six-part HBO Max docuseries ‘The Last Movie Stars’ that these interviews came out, where the 'Before Sunrise' star tried to explore the intimacy shared by Newman and his wife Woodward. Hawke told Insider, "They each took turns being the gardener and the rose. He says, 'She made up the sex symbol me'. He didn't believe in himself until he was married to her. He worshiped her as an artist and she loved and believed in him. They balanced each other in a way that I find really inspiring."

Newman and Woodward got married in 1958 and had a strong marriage that went on for 50 years until Newman’s passing in 2008. Woodward, 92, is an Alzheimer’s patient who’s been battling the disease for years now.
