Paul Murdaugh's ex Morgan Doughty engaged to BF weeks after Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murders
WALTERBORO, SOUTH CAROLINA: The former girlfriend of Paul Murdaugh is an engaged woman now. As per reports, Morgan Doughty said yes to her boyfriend-turned-fiancé, Batten, soon after Alex Murdaugh was convicted of killing Paul and his mother, Maggie. The development also happened weeks after Doughty opened up about her abusive relationship with the late Paul in Netflix’s ‘Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal’.
Taking to her Instagram, Doughty released a series of photos from behind the scene of the documentary as she penned, “Behind the scenes and a reminder that this is real life. So much love, energy, vulnerability and hard work has been poured into this documentary."

‘He punched me really hard’
In the documentary, the 23-year-old woman reportedly said, “I think that our relationship is just something that I really clung to just because when it was good, it was really good. But when it was bad, it was really bad.” She also mentioned an incident where the slain youngest Murdaugh “got on top of me, and I just remember him screaming: ‘I told you to shut up.’ Just holding down my throat. I just remember then he punched me really hard in the knee.”
It has been said that Doughty and Paul had been dating each other since their junior year in high school. But they parted ways after the 2019 fatal boat accident that resulted in the death of Mallory Beach. Paul was driving that boat at the time while intoxicated.
‘She always said that Mallory saved her’
Referring to Doughty and Paul’s relationship, her mother has said as reported by RadarOnline.com, “She was done. That was it. She always said that Mallory saved her, and that's one way, really, she saved her.”
Meanwhile, regarding the latest development, which happened days after on March 3 Alex was awarded a life sentence, the dental hygienist from Hampton posted on her Instagram page, “The moment I’ve been praying for since the day I met Batten. I can not wait to spend the rest of my life with you ♥️ #SheSaidOkay.”
