Pat Sajak, 76, ‘surprised’ he's still hosting 'Wheel of Fortune' after 40 years, fans say 'my therapist and I are coping your departure'

Ryan Seacrest will step in for Pat Sajak in 2024, giving the 76-year-old one final year to wrap things up and enjoy his time as the host

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It is no surprise that when Pat Sajak decided to step down as the host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’, a lot of broken hearts echoed their disdain and misery on social media. Pat who had enjoyed the privilege of hosting the game show for over four decades has now recently admitted that he was surprised that he could enjoy and serve as a host for this long. 

Ryan Seacrest will step in for Pat Sajak in 2024, giving the 76-year-old one final year to wrap things up and enjoy his time as the host of the popular game show. Pat expressed his surprise at hosting the game show when he resounded to a Tweet from a renowned account named Chicago History. The account posted a snap, encouraging their followers to share a fact they found surprising that happened over a period. They posted a photo that read, "If someone from 1981 suddenly woke up in 2023 what would surprise them the most?” Pat replied mockingly to the tweet and said, "That Pat Sajak was still hosting Wheel of Fortune.” The comment section later exploded with fans praising and showering their love on Pat for his long and faithful duty to ‘Wheel of Fortune’.

‘You've helped me through so many sick days’ 

Pat joined ‘Wheels of Fortune’ in 1981 with co-host, Vanna White, coming on board the following year. His influence and jolly attitude have allowed him to stay as host for as long as one can remember and a fan thanked him for shining as a bright light on his darkest days. “You've helped me through so many sick days :) I miss the shopping after a round and all the sponsors. You've made such a positive impact on society.” A second user wrote, "or that he finally retired, won’t be the same, @RyanSeacrest has some humongous shoes to fill” while a third mentioned Pat’s class stating, “Not surprising, a timeless concept and man.” A fourth fan revealed that he’s coping after the news of Pat leaving the game show. “Pat, my therapist and I are starting to address your departure from Wheel. Trying to cope.”

‘This wins the Internet for today’

Fans were ecstatic and praised Pat’s remark on the post with one fan mentioning, “This wins the Internet for today” as a second wanted Pat to entertain them long after he’s left the show, “I hope that when Pat leaves wheel of fortune, he will have much more time for entertaining us all on Twitter.” But the fan who echoed everyone’s emotions clearly said that Pat is still the best. "And @patsajak is still on top of his game!”
