'Let them show': Fans laud Padma Lakshmi as she flaunts her stretch marks in white bikini
On Wednesday, July 20, 'Top Chef' host Padma Lakshmi shared a video of herself on Instagram. The clip showed the cookbook author at the pool wearing a tight white bikini without any filters. The video, as per the author's hashtags, was posted in a bid to promote body positivity.
The 51-year-old grinned broadly as she leaped into a Funboy inflatable jet ski before plunging into the ocean in front of her 12-year-old daughter, Krishna.

The post got many replies in the comment section, praising her for showcasing her flaws. One comment read, "Stretch marks are the stripes of a lioness!!! #gopadma help us normalize them." Another user said, "God's lightning not stretch marks."
One person even stated that they believe years of stretch mark shame are permanently dissolving. "I feel decades of stretch mark shame melting away forever! " "We all have them!" A fourth commented, "Let them show!!"
Before filming the popular Bravo TV series, 'Top Chef' in 2019, the author told Us Weekly that she didn't diet and didn't care if she put on weight. At the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, Padma said, "I’m lucky because I gained weight exponentially everywhere. I don’t care. I was just happy there was a dress this pretty that."
"And at the end of the day, it’s just about feeling comfortable. I’m done trying to squeeze my bum into something that is too small. I don’t care. You know, it shouldn’t be about what I look like at this point in my career," she added.

Lakshmi also mentioned that she no longer wore shape-wear like Spanx. She explained that the last time she wore one was after her pregnancy.
