'Outlast': Meet 16 survivalists who are ready to beat Alaskan wilderness
NEKA RIVER, ALASKA: Meet the 16 castaways ready to stake their life to win a whopping cash prize of $1 million. The contestants go on an extraordinary and thrilling adventure to survive dangerous natural threats including bears, snow, and an intense jungle in the Netflix show, 'Outlast'.
The upcoming Netflix reality show is similar to 'Survivor' but with a plot twist. The 16 castaways will be dropped in the Alaskan wilderness with empty hands. They have to work in a team of four to survive and win the ultimate prize. To make things more thrilling, the equipment and the challenges will be dropped through crates just like in battle royale video games.

Andrea Hilderbrand
Andrea hails from Charlotte, North Carolina. She grew up in the middle of a national forest in the south and is an engineer by profession. In her latest profile interview with Netflix Tudum, Andrea claimed that 'no self-respecting Southerner grows up without hunting and fishing. Andrea previously competed in CrossFit competitions and enjoys extreme survival sports and endurance races. She has also completed mountaineering expeditions in the US, Europe, and South America. Andrea's prior experience in adventurous competitions might prove to be a golden ball to win 'Outlast' challenges.
Amber Asay
Amber belongs to Phoenix, Arizona. The 34-year-old yoga instructor's life turned upside down after the man of her life ditched her. She struggled with addiction. But Amber didn't sit back, and she went on a long trip into the desert with a shaman for three days with no gear. Notably, Amber explored the 'Enchantments'. For the unaware, Enchantments is one of the most grueling treks in North America, clocking 26 miles in a day. Amber also took up long-haul hiking, also known as thru-hiking which will directly help to survive through the dense jungle.
Angie Kenai
Angie belongs to San Antonio, Texas. She is a former member of the Texas State Guard where she worked to provide disaster relief. While most people describe her job as grueling, Angie calls it fun. Angie, 30, is also an avid climber and fisher. Angie also shared her hunting technique revealing that she prefers to use recurve bows to hunt hogs and turkeys. However, Angie can also hunt with traps and nets. Angie's next target can be seen on her arm. She's tattooed a shark as a reminder of her next goal. Meanwhile, Angie's prior bullying experience and how she overcomes those obstacles can be applied to win the thrilling challenge.
Brian Kahrs
Brian is a resident of Holiday, Florida. The 59-year-old contestant grew up during the height of the Cold War. Brian has also witnessed nuclear attack drills daily occurring at his school. Notably, Brian was a member of a survival group as a teenager, and he never looked back. Moreover, he delights in discomfort and uses the pain as fuel. Brian's tough personality can be his major weapon to overcome obstacles.
Corey Johnson
Corey found his passion for adventure after being in the fashion industry. The 28-year-old was a model in New York City, but he soon realized that modeling is not for him. Corey then moved back to his hometown of Parker, Colorado, to follow his passion for being outdoors. Since then, he's enjoyed his life in the mountains and learned to live in the wilderness alone. Corey is an allrounder as he can build shelters, as well as hunt fish, waterfowl, elk, whitetail, and even bears. Moreover, he once saw a mountain lion from too close and prides himself on knowing about animal behavior.
Dawn Nelson
Dawn has undergone several hurdles in her personal life. She started carrying a gun when she was still a child. Dawn, 43, was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant with her daughter. However, after a C-section, a mastectomy, and numerous reconstructive surgeries, she rose stronger than ever. Dawn, who belongs to Creston, Washington, is a former corrections officer, a published author, a phlebotomist, and a lab assistant at a small-town hospital. Dawn and her husband are raising their daughter on a cattle ranch just like she was raised in the mountains.
Javier Colón
Javier was born in the Rust Belt and he soon got his passion for traveling. He has now become a seasoned traveler with 23 years of international outdoor experience. Additionally, Javier took a 31-day backpacking journey across Spain. Javier, 42, has also completed an 18,000-mile solo bicycle tour from Canada to Tierra Del Fuego and a solo bicycle tour of 1,000 miles around the entire island of Iceland. Notably, he completed his tour in just two years.
Jill Ashock
Jill, who hails from New Haven, Kentucky, was a private investigator and firefighter/EMT. She also teaches wilderness survival, plant ID, and self-confidence classes. Jill, a mother of three, is a professional angler and has been ranked first in her state for archery. Moreover, Jill has also built and designed several houses, including the one she lives in.
Joel Hungate
Joel is an engineer, health care, and technology innovator. He belongs to McCordsville, Indiana. Joel was the first mountaineer to ascend a peak in a remote region of Western Mongolia. He also rescued a person injured in a rock slide. Joel, 33, and an international team of alpinists executed a harrowing evacuation and emergency stabilization. He successfully evacuated the injured person despite deteriorating conditions. Joel's teamwork skills will get paid off on the Netflix show.
Jordan Williams
Jordon is a 25-year-old resident of Fort Collins, Colorado. He was previously in the US Marines and as a result, the jungle, the desert, and all kinds of amphibious and mountainous terrains feel like home to him. Jordan's survival skills were also furnished through his personal experiences. He has two children and he loves to document their memorable moments on his social media.
Justin Court
Justin worked as a guide in Montana but later shifted to bow hunting. Justin, 44, is also a black belt in jiujitsu who has survived an avalanche and surfed all over the world. However, while completing his list of adventures he met with an accident and broke quite a few bones. Justin believes that mindset, tactics, and gear are the key to surviving in the wilderness.
Lee Ettinger
Lee is a sports enthusiast since childhood. He later served eight years in the United States Marine Corps with deployments in a Special Operations Qualified Advance Landing Unit. He also worked for the Japanese government and lived in rural Japan for almost five years. Lee, 47, later moved to Montana. He is the founder and CEO of Better Living Products.
Nick Radner
Nick was living a normal life as a high-school teacher and wrestling coach but suddenly discovered his passion for adventure. Nick, 36, has always taught his students that they need to be the best at what they are doing or it's a waste of time. Moreover, he shared his thoughts on his social media that he believes in teaching kids to love the outdoors before TikTok teaches them to set their faces on fire. He recently climbed Mount Shasta solo and has traveled all over the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountains, Sierra Nevadas, and the Northeast United States.
Paul Preece
Paul is a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, and loves adventure since when he was a kid. Paul started hunting as a necessity to put food on the table for his family. But things have changed now and his necessity has now become his passion. Paul considers himself a professional hunter and fisherman. Moreover, he also teaches and guides the youth and novice hunters each season.
Seth Lueker
Seth, 31, currently resides in Winchester, Virginia. He joined the Marine Corps when he was 19. During his time in Hawaii, he practiced combat survival and land navigation. However, Seth learned most of his survival skills during his childhood as he grew up on a farm in Virginia. He learned to hunt, fish, and track game all by himself.
Timothy Spears
Timothy resides in Fort Collins, Colorado, and explores the trails around his town. However, he developed a passion for travel after his late grandfather once took Timothy on a three-week trip to Canada to hunt, camp, and survive in the wilderness. Now he wants to live those thrilling days again. However, Timothy believes nature is where humans are meant to be.
'Outlast' Season 1 will debut on Netflix on March 10th, 2023.
