Don Cheadle trolled for navy blue tux at Oscars, fans disappointed he 'didn't dress up as Captain Planet'
Oscar-nominated actor Don Cheadle presented the best makeup and hairstyling accolade at the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday, April 25. The actor looked sharp in a navy blue suit and bowtie during the ceremony. However, fans were left disappointed when they saw that Cheadle did not dress up as Captain Planet at the star-studded event.
Social media users took to Twitter and began trending the actor’s name as soon as he appeared on the screen. One of the users wrote that she was really disappointed when she saw that Cheadle wasn’t wearing the ‘Captain Planet’ costume. As far as the Oscars are concerned, Chloe Zhao’s ‘Nomadland’ won the Best Picture accolade at the star-studded event. Zhao also took home the best director trophy for the aforementioned feature film. Meanwhile, Anthony Hopkins’ win in the Best Actor category surprised everyone. Late actor Chadwick Boseman was poised to win the trophy, but Hopkins triumphed at the ceremony.
Frances McDormand won her third best actress Oscar for ‘Nomadland’. She received the leading actress accolade for her roles in movies like ‘Fargo’ (1996) and ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri’ (2017).
The official Academy Awards preshow, ‘Oscars: Into the Spotlight’ began airing on ABC at 6:30 pm ET. With Ariana DeBose and Lil Rel Howery as hosts, it offered a behind-the-scenes look at the big night with red carpet coverage and interviews. The main ceremony started at 8 pm ET on ABC.
