What is Celeste's net worth?
Celeste Epiphany Waite from Culver City, California is only 26, but the soul singer already has a net worth of about $1 million to $5 million, according to CelebsAgeWiki.
In a Sky News interview, Celeste talked about how she moved to London four years ago with just $138 in her pocket and found herself a job in a restaurant to pay the rent along with putting all her effort into making music. "I felt like it was a turning point whether I would make things happen or not," she told the news outlet.
"I needed to pay the rent and I had to prioritize whether I wanted to work more hours to have more money to live off, or sacrifice that and go to the studio, but with no idea how long it would take to get to a point where I could be doing it full time."
The self-taught singer chose singing over waitressing, a decision that has now paid off as she joins Adele, Florence + The Machine, and Rag 'n' Bone Man as previous Brit Rising Star winners (formerly known as 'Critics Choice'). At one point, the singer considered doing a barbering course as a means to get to London.
A Gucci evening
Celeste was nominated for this year's Golden Globe awards but did not secure a win. However, she thanked Gucci for making her a custom dress for the event. In an Instagram post, she said: "No Golden Globe for me 🏆 but a wonderful opportunity and a treat to get dressed up. Thank you @gucci for making this custom dress it made it a very special evening ❣️ I did a little pre show Q&A with @britishvogue / find the link in my story"
The singer wore a sultry 70's vibe Gucci velvet gown with multicolored striped sequin panels and gold-encrusted lion head earrings. “It definitely feels very special, the gown makes me feel like something actually happened,” Celeste said to Vogue. “Without the gown, everything just falls into a blur. I love the ribboned panels of sequins cascading to the floor.”
'I was right to work extra hours, though I missed friend's birthday'
"I had all these mad ideas, but primarily I was focusing on being in the studio, and I got fired from loads of jobs for doing that… I know it was worth it now," she said. In another BBC interview, she said she kept skipping work to write songs. “I’d rather call in sick and go to the studio than have the money for that month.”
“In the last year or so, I haven’t done any of the stuff that most people my age do,” she muses to Vogue. “Now it feels like I was right to stay in the studio an extra two hours, although I missed a friend’s birthday.”
Celeste currently resides in in Laylow, London’s prestigious private member's club in Ladbroke Grove, a far cry from her Dagenham and Brighton upbringing at the ages of two and six respectively, according to NME. Many people respect the singer for her unusual, '60s fashion sense, which is influenced by The Supremes, Édith Piaf, and Shirley Bassey. Ella Lucia is her stylist, and Alessandro Michele of Gucci scouted her.
Celeste was dubbed "fashion's latest front-row queen" on the front cover of Sunday Times Style in March 2020. She began dating English model and poet Sonny Hall shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic began.
'Not Your Muse'
Celeste's new album Not Your Muse debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart for the week beginning February 5, 2021, becoming the first debut album by a British female artist to top the chart in over five years. It had made 16,957 sales by midweek, and 22,475 sales by the end of the week; 18,206 of which were physical copies. Downloads accounted for 2,371 of its sales and streams for 1,898, Musicweek reported.
"Not Your Muse is the power I found when I felt powerless... In making this album I have allowed myself to arrive at a place where I feel empowered, fiercely wide-eyed and fulfilled. I'm very proud of what I've achieved on my debut album and to be in this position, after the year that has been, I feel nothing but gratitude and excitement. I hope you enjoy it," she said of the album, as reported on Gigwise.
