Olivia Newton-John recently shared some great updates about her health and her cancer treatment and was full of praises for medicinal cannabis. The 71-year-old actress revealed that her tumors have shrunk.

"My tumors are receding or they're going away or they're staying the same, on Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer — that's pretty amazing," she said during a recent interview with The Sunday Telegraph.

She attributed this amazing development to the usage of medicinal cannabis. The Australian actress said that the controversial green leaf helped her with pain and sleep.

"If I hadn't had the experience I'm having with cannabis I wouldn't be able to talk about it," she shared. When her cancer spread to her lower back, Olivia added that she was in excruciating pain and spent many sleepless nights due to the pain.

"I was flat on my back in the center [the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre] and this year, through treatment and medicinal cannabis, I am feeling fantastic," she said. She also talked about how she resorted to morphine to help with her pain, before switching to cannabis.

The actress explained, "When I broke my sacrum, I was on morphine because the pain was intense. I was terrified of starting it because I know it's a hard thing to ween off but I am now off it and I weened myself off it with cannabis."

This isn't Olivia's first tryst with cancer. She had successfully fought cancer twice before in 1992 and 2013. The actress is now advocating for the inclusion of medicinal cannabis in cancer treatment and will be launching a series of trial studies through her Cancer and Wellness Centre.

When asked why she is advocating for the usage of cannabis, she shared, "It's not a drug. You see, that's the problem. That's a name thrown around with cannabis — it's a herb and a plant. I hope to be able to soon offer that to everyone — that's my dream."
