The parents of the missing 5-year-old girl in Washington state have been arrested on suspicion of homicide. The parents, 32-year-old Jordan Bowers and 36-year-old Andrew Carlson, were arrested during a welfare check at the girl's house. Oakley Carlson, who turned five a few days ago, vanished under 'suspicious circumstances' from her home in Oakville, Washington. However, the investigators have been unable to figure out how long the girl has been missing.

The Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Office indicated in a press release that "detectives see the circumstances surrounding the child's disappearance as suspicious." Undersheriff Brad Johansson told KOMO, "You can't see a young kid like Oakley and not be emotionally interested with the case."

"We're really worried for her safety and well-being," he added, "and we simply don't know what that is at this moment." "We are certainly hoping and praying for the best, but we are also prepared for and anticipating the worst." The sheriff's office noted in a press release that "detectives and search and rescue professionals are now scouring the child's house and property." "The study is still in its infancy. When a concerned individual approached law enforcement to check on the child's wellbeing, they became engaged."

The parents were first seized as "persons of interest" and held in the Grays Harbor County prison on charges of impeding a law enforcement officer for allegedly refusing to comply with authorities. According to the publication, deputies stated that the parents were unaware of the child's location and were unable to offer any logical explanation for her whereabouts. As suspicions of manslaughter mounted, a court put the couple's bond at $150,000, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges.

"We decided it was in the best interest of the case," Johansson said, "based on the extraordinary circumstances of the missing kid, not knowing her whereabouts and no one has seen her in many days and no one knows her condition." Before real charges against the pair could be considered, the court set Friday as a deadline for officials to present new evidence. "We don't have those answers ourselves until we can get a lot of those issues answered," Johansson added.

Bowers and Carlson have not been given the option to enter a plea, and no attorney has been selected to represent them. Anyone with information on the missing girl should call 911, call 360-533-8765, or email sodetectives@co.grays-harbor.wa.us, according to the sheriff's office.
