A 20-year-old Washington State man was busted with a van filled with guns and explosives as he had plans to assassinate Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. The man is also facing child porn charges.
Alexander Hillel Treisman searched for Biden’s home address and posted an iFunny meme online, captioned "should I kill Joe Biden?" according to a federal judge’s ruling made public on Thursday, October 22.
"A timeline of internet searches conducted by defendant between March and May 2020 seeking information about Joe Biden’s home address, state gun laws, rifle parts, and night vision goggles, along with actions taken by the defendant, including posting the abovementioned meme about killing Joe Biden, purchasing an AR-15 in New Hampshire, traveling to Wendy’s within 4 miles of Joe Biden’s home, and writing a checklist not ending with, ‘execute,'” US Magistrate Joe Webster wrote on September 28.
According to a WBTV report, Treisman first gained the attention of authorities on May 28, 2020, when workers at a Fifth Third Bank branch in Kannapolis, North Carolina, complained about an abandoned white Ford van parked outside their building. Inside the van, police found an AR-15-style rifle, a canister of the explosive material Tannerite and $509,000 in cash, along with a cache of other weapons, the papers say.
When the police took the van way, Treisman showed up in a green Honda Accord and asked the bank workers about the whereabouts of a van. The employees then called Kannapolis police who arrested him and found more guns — .380-caliber and 9 mm handguns — inside his Accord. While the investigation was going on, FBI agents got a warrant to inspect Treisman's phone and other electronic devices, which were full of messages suggesting a fascination with a mass shooting and a trove of child pornography, the records show. He had 1,248 videos and 6,721 images of "child pornography containing sadism and/or masochism content," legal papers say.
Treisman tried to explain to the investigators that he had traveled across the country and purchased the guns from various locations, including Washington, Kansas, New Hampshire and West Virginia, the court document shows. In the September 28, 2020, ruling, Teisman was ordered by the Justice Department to remain in jail without bail. “Having considered the information presented, the court concludes that the record established by clear and convincing evidence that no combination of available release conditions would reasonably assure the safety of the community,” the judge wrote.
