Shocking video shows NYC thug cold-cocking man at mall as security guard walks past motionless body

BROOKLYN, NYC: In a shocking incident, a 36-year-old man was punched in the side of his face by a thug at the Kings Plaza Mall on August 20. Surveillance cameras captured the attack that left the man unconscious with people passing by, including a security guard who did nothing.

According to DailyMail, the video released by New York Police Department on August 22 showed the man, who has not been named, standing in line at a cash register when two unidentified men approached him from behind. One of the men, who was wearing black shorts along with a white t-shirt and black sneakers, then proceed to punch him in the side of the face which made the victim fall face down. After this, the two men walk away while the victim remained motionless on the floor. People watching the scene backed away after the assault, but a woman was spotted moving the man's belongings closer to his body. In the video, a security guard can be seen who just casually passed by and didn't do anything even though the victim was lying on the floor.

As per the report, officials said the attack left the victim with “serious physical injury” and he was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition. The officials have also released the footage that shows the suspect getting out of a black Honda Civic on August 20, the night of the incident.

The growing crime in NYC

On August 5, NYPD shared the statistics of growing crime that saw a jump in murder cases by 31 percent in July 2022, compared to July 2021, as per Daily News. The city recorded 178 shooting incidents last month, up from 157, counted in July 2021. There was an increase of 37 percent in robbery cases in July 2022 compared to July 2021. Talking about it, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said, "Everyone who lives, works and visits here deserves to be safe, and the members of the NYPD will tolerate nothing less. But we cannot do it alone. When violent criminals are willing to carry illegal guns on our streets and brazenly shoot at innocent people they must face real consequences."
