Brandy vs Monica Verzuz Battle: ‘Not Kamala’ trends as she pops up but Internet says she won't get Black votes
Music legends Monica Denise Arnold and Brandy Rayana Norwood collaborated in 1998, for the hit ‘The Boy Is Mine’. The song was about two women competing for the same man, the accompanying video showed them arguing over actor Mekhi Phifer. According to NME.com, after the song was released there were reports that the duo had had a fallout.
So, fans were really excited when it was announced that they would be on Beatz and Timbaland’s popular Verzuz webcast series on August 31. The report states that Monica had hinted that the pair might discuss their past feud during the battle. ET quotes her saying, “We’ve long removed ourselves from the dramatics of it but we’re gonna have a very in-depth conversation that may possibly be shared even with the audience because there’s a lot that happens, the fans have no idea what really took place, what really caused the initial friction."
But viewers were in for a surprise. A certain Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance leaving the Internet extremely bewildered. Dressed in a Howard University t-shirt, the VP candidate spoke why it is very important that people vote and help give people a voice through voting. Harris also said, “I am a huge fan of both of you.”
Harris also lent her support to Verzuz's partnership with Michelle Obama's When We All Vote, as per Billboard. She is quoted as saying, "Thank you for doing this for When We All Vote. It’s so important for everyone. You both used your voice in such a powerful way, and an extension of our voices is our vote."
The musician duo also agreed about the importance of voting. And in one of the clips going viral, one can see Joe Biden post a ‘hand wave’ emoji in the chat. Soon, DJ Heat shared on Twitter that the session has clocked one million viewers. The DJ wrote: "ONE MILLION VIEWERS FOR THE BRANDY VS MONICA #VERZUZ"

Another stated, "So they used the Verzuz battle with Brandy & Monica, to allow Kamala Harris to make sure The Blacks get in line with the Democratic party? Haven't they gotten the memo that we're no longer gifting our votes and we are tired of this shameless, disrespectful pandering?"
