The Crown princess of Norway, Mette-Marit, has admitted to meeting pedophile Jeffrey Epstein many times after he was convicted. The princess has now apologized for having done so.

She had met with the pedophile quite a few times between 2011 and 2013 after being introduced through a mutual associate. The meetings had taken place after Epstein was convicted of sex offenses including forcing a child into prostitution in 2008.

The crown princess issued an apology for having met Epstein. According to a report by the Dagens Næringsliv paper, meetings between Epstein and the crown princess had taken place in social settings which mostly took place in the US.

In a statement issued on Monday, December 2, a Norwegian palace spokeswoman said that the princess was unaware of Epstein's crimes when they met.

The statement read, "I never would have associated with Mr. Epstein if I had been aware of the seriousness of the crimes he committed. I should have investigated his past more thoroughly, and I am sorry that I didn't". The princess cut all ties with the disgraced billionaire in 2013.

The communications chief at the Royal Palace, Guri Varpe, shared that there were other people present when the princess met with Epstein. "One of the meetings was at Epstein's home."

"In addition, the crown princess had a brief meeting with Epstein once when he was in Oslo. The crown princess did not, of course, know about the offenses that were later revealed," Varpe shared.

"The crown princess chose to end her contact with Epstein because she had the impression among other things that Epstein tried to use the connection he'd had with the crown princess in regards to other people," Varpe added.

Jeffrey Epstein's association with Prince Andrew led to the downfall of Prince Andrew who was recently relieved of all his royal duties.
