LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ryan Gosling has decided not to take any crap from haters after some expressed their disapproval of his portrayal as Ken in the upcoming movie, ‘Barbie’. As per reports, there were people who pointed out the actor’s age and claimed he is “too old and dry” for the fictional character.

But the 42-year-old hit back and told GQ, “I would say, you know, if people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with.” He continued, “It is funny, this kind of clutching-your-pearls idea of, like, #notmyken. Like you ever thought about Ken before this?”

‘Your hypocrisy is exposed’

Gosling also noted that Ken’s “job is beach. For 60 years, his job has been beach.” He pointed out that suddenly everyone is concerned for him. He said, “For him to have a job that is nothing. But suddenly, it’s like, ‘No, we’ve cared about Ken this whole time.’ No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never fucked with Ken. That’s the point. If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told.”

The ‘La La Land’ star added, “I care about this dude now. I’m like his representative. Ken couldn’t show up to receive this award, so I’m here to accept it for him.”

‘It came on like light scarlet fever’

This comes after last month, Gosling spoke of Ken at CinemaCon 2023. He shared at the time, “I only knew Ken from afar. I didn't know Ken from within, and if I'm being really honest I doubted my Ken-ergy. I didn't see it, but Margot and Greta, they conjured this out of me somehow.”

The Canadian actor explained, “It was like I was living my life and then one day I was bleaching my hair, shaving my legs and wearing bespoke neon outfits and rollerblading down Venice Beach. It came on like light scarlet fever. Then I woke up one day and was like, 'Why is there fake tanner in my sheets? What just happened?’”

Meanwhile, Gosling has also received a lot of support online with a fan saying, “The fact that there were arguments about whether or not Ryan Gosling was a good cast for Ken its crazy to me.. just look at him in the new trailer. his kenergy is off the charts.” Another fan wrote, “Holy cow, Ryan's passion for Ken is on another level 🔥.” “Tbh I liked him just by looking at the trailer, he's given a unique personality that contrasts Barbie and I'm all about that ✨,” a third added.
