Can anyone play Nicolas Cage better than himself? No, right? The Academy Award and Golden Globe winner is all set to close a deal for a movie where he will star as himself.

Reportedly, the film has been titled 'Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent' and it will pay homage to the likes of 'Leaving Las Vegas', 'Face/Off' and 'Gone in 60 Seconds'. According to Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate is in final negotiations to pick up the movie after beating HBO Max and Paramount. The meta-movie has a script penned down by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, with Gormican all set to helm the project.

Other than lending his voice to characters, Cage only had a major studio release in 2011's 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance', based on the Marvel character and this could turn out to be a big deal for him to get his career back on track.

If reports are to be believed, Cage's character will revolve around his life as he is desperate to get a role in a new Quentin Tarantino movie while also dealing with a strained relationship with his teenage daughter. According to Hollywood Reporter, he "occasionally talks to an egotistical 1990s version of himself who rides him for making too many crappy movies and for not being a star anymore."

Moreover, the character will be in a lot of debt and is forced to make an appearance at the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire. It is there that he is presented with a script written by his fan. Soon, Cage finds out that the billionaire is actually a drug cartel kingpin who has kidnapped the daughter of a Mexican presidential nominee and is recruited by the U.S. government to get intelligence. The film takes a complex twist when the Mexican makes Cage reconcile with his ex-wife.

Kevin Turen, who is known for producing 'Waves' and as an executive producer on HBO's 'Euphoria', will be one of the producers of the film along with Cage, his Saturn Films banner and Mike Nilon.
