INSKIP, LANCASHIRE: A former detective, known to uncover Jimmy Savile’s criminal side and probing Madeleine McCann's alleged abductor Christian Brueckner, will reportedly now investigate the missing case of Nicola Bulley. Mark Williams-Thomas is said to be soon in Saint Michael's on Wyre as the mother’s family and friends are getting desperate to find her.

The 45-year-old woman has been missing since the morning of January 27 after taking her dog for a walk near River Wyre. Lancashire Police have continued to suggest that Bulley fell into the river without any proof. Amid these, Williams-Thomas said as reported by DailyMail.com, “I will be spending time up in St Michael's on Wyre next week to pull together a quick turn around the report of what exactly is known about the disappearance of Nicola Bulley. I will explore all the options, bring you a factual evidence analysis, and dismiss some of the inaccuracies.”

He also reportedly shared, "This would now be a critical incident being dealt with as suspicious, if it had been down to me. Within 48 hours I would have treated this in the same fashion as a murder or abduction. I think police have been right to say they have an open mind – the problem that they have got is that they also said it wasn’t criminal."

‘I have always questioned this’

The investigative journalist also spoke with The Mirror and said, “From very early on police were certain Nicola Bulley did not leave the location. I have always questioned this, they could not be certain about this given every exit route is not covered by working CCTV. This plays into my worry of looking for evidence to support a hypothesis.”

The 53-year-old told the Talking True Crime UK podcast, “One of the things that police have talked about is this window of opportunity. During that period of time, it is an opportunity for an offender or a third party or for that individual to disappear. That window of opportunity is the time period where there is no sighting of the individual concerned. In Nicola's case, they say there is a window of opportunity of about 10 minutes. Probably slightly more than that. Opportunistically, things just fall into place.”

‘I feel for the family'

While ex-Met Police Detective Chief Inspector Mick Neville called the vanishment of Bulley “a very tragic case” as he told TalkTV, “I feel for the family, and there are several possibilities. The police believe she went into the water, she could also have decided to vanish herself. There is the possibility she was either taken by force by someone who either didn't know her, or someone who she did.”

Neville explained, “These are the four things the police will be looking for. They seem to be going on the theory that she fell into the river, but from what they are saying, Lancashire Police are not putting all their eggs in one basket and they are examining several possibilities. They are doing a good job. There has been some mistakes along the way, but they are doing a good job,” before adding, “There are very few people who vanish without a trace. They must have realized something was really seriously wrong quite early on, and that bench was not sealed off. That was an opportunity lost.”
