Madeleine McCann Case: Christian Brueckner's ex says he slammed her head against a wall for hugging another man
With Discovery plus re-examining the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the spotlight has moved back to the 2005 case again. 'Prime Suspect: The Madeleine McCann Case' explores the angle of suspect Christian Brueckner and his possible hand in the disappearance of the child. The three-part documentary will also feature Brueckner's mystery girlfriend who has spoken about his psychopathic traits earlier.
There's more to Brueckner than just his "secret lairs", his sexual assault on a 72-year-old woman, his burglaries and selling of drugs, the 43-year-old also had a British ex-girlfriend who was subjected to immense physical torture. In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, she spoke of some of his psychotic antics. Brueckner once broke into her house and lay in wait for her to arrive. She also alleged that Brueckner bashed her head against a wall for innocently hugging another man.
She also recollected the time he said his final goodbye and the chilling stare he gave her before bailing out from her place. Brueckner was in his early 20s by then. The connection to the McCann case felt eerie when Madeleine's father, Gerry McCann, said he believed the child's kidnapper was hiding behind a door when he went to check in on his daughter. Although McCann's disappearance was two years later, the place she was seen last was near the Praia da Luz, where Brueckner was living.

The woman, who has not revealed her identity due to fear of Brueckner possibly finding out, has also expressed her thoughts on the possibility of her ex-boyfriend being involved in the disappearance of the toddler.
"It’s chilling to think my ex is suspected of abducting Madeleine McCann. I can’t cope with it," she told the site. She also shed light on how the relationship unfolded. "At first I didn’t actually like him that much,” she recalled. "Not for any reason, I just didn’t like him. I was 28, he was a couple of years younger than me. Everyone called him Chris. He liked me, I knew he liked me in ‘that’ way but I wasn’t interested. We slowly became friends in the spring of 2004."
“Chris could be very, very charming, very funny, and very smooth in the way he talked" she added. “He always dressed nicely, holding the door open for women, that kind of thing. I was alone here in Portugal, no family around and a bit lonely and I was getting all this attention from this guy. We got together romantically and at first, it was great. The relationship was very nice."
It wasn't until 2004 that she realized Brueckner was not the man he appeared. She explained that he would fly into an intense rage over small arguments. "I remember he lost it once because I didn’t clean his house. I said ‘I’ve got my own house to clean, I don’t live here," she said. "He was like, ‘You should clean my house, you’re a woman".
This was followed by a violent incident where she was physically abused for hugging a man whom she called a "really nice friend" that she'd made during the new year. Brueckner allegedly slammed her head forcefully onto a wall in the women's toilet.
