LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Many on the internet threw shade at rapper Nicki Minaj after her husband Kenneth Petty was placed under house arrest for a period of 120 days due to alleged threats made against Offset, the husband of fellow rapper Cardi B.

The court order, filed in the Central District of California, cites that Petty was captured on video making menacing remarks while in the company of an individual with a criminal record. The specific person referred to in the order is Offset, and the controversial clips in question were posted on social media on September 16.

An account reposted the video with the caption, “In a bizarre video with solo cups in hand, registered sex offender Kenneth Petty and his associates stand outside on an empty street waiting for Grammy nominee Offset to come outside. It appears this was an attempt to attack him.”

This incident reignited a long-standing feud between Nicki and Cardi, two prominent figures in the rap industry. Their feud reached its pinnacle during a brawl at the Harper's Bazaar Icons party during New York Fashion Week in September 2018.

Videos of the altercation circulated widely on social media, capturing Cardi lunging at Nicki and attacking her.

Kenneth Petty's past legal troubles

Petty had previously been sentenced to three years of probation in July 2022 after pleading guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in California in 2020. His criminal history includes a 1995 conviction for first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old, which led to a four-year prison sentence in New York.

The viral video clip that caused the latest controversy showed Petty, along with a group of other people, outside a New York City hotel, allegedly where Offset was residing at the time.

In the video, Petty made various threatening comments, including the statement, "Plan that vacation, you gonna be planning your funeral," as reported by Hollywood Reporter.

In response to the threats, Offset took to his own social media platform, seemingly unfazed by Petty's remarks. "I'm getting off a jet, he's funny," Offset quipped, even hinting that Petty may be financially strained.

Internet users mocked the legendary rapper, advising her to control her partner. A user questioned, "Nicki married this man. is she ok? and also barbz support him?"
