LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nick Loeb, the former fiance of Sofia Vergara, is facing criticism from the Beverly Hills fertility clinic that he is suing over their frozen embryos. Loeb's last remaining lawsuit in this matter is against ART Reproductive Center, claiming the clinic did not inform him that he would not be allowed to use the embryos without Vergara's consent. ART Reproductive Center refuted these allegations, stating that it would be a felony for them to allow Loeb to use the embryos without Vergara's consent, as she does not give permission for the use of her genetic material.

According to RadarOnline, after undergoing vitro fertilization at the ART Reproductive Center in Los Angeles, the couple signed an agreement that required both parties' consent to bring the embryos to term. However, after their split in 2014, Loeb filed several lawsuits demanding he is allowed to bring the embryos to term, even giving them names in court documents. In 2021, Vergara was granted a permanent injunction against Loeb from bringing the embryos to term without her explicit written consent.

What did ART Reproductive Center say?

ART Reproductive Center has continued to criticize Nick Loeb and his lawsuit in a new filing. The company's lawyer stated, "This lawsuit is nothing more than a desperate man's attempt to stay in the life of his ex-fiancee, Sofia Vergara. Despite what Mr Loeb claims, that he has not been able to use the two embryos he created with Ms Vergara, instead this litigation, and the several others he has initiated, are his attempt to continue to force Ms. Vergara to deal with him and stay in his life." The company further added, "His Opposition, much like the lawsuit, is a desperate attempt to save this litigation. [Loeb] ignores the true issues raised in the moving papers, and instead uses smoke and mirrors to distract the Court from the true and material facts." At present, a judge has not yet issued a ruling on the matter.

'Cancer was not a word I expected to hear'

In a heartfelt Instagram post in February, actress Sofia Vergara reflected on her battle with thyroid cancer at the age of 28. During a routine checkup, doctors discovered a lump in her neck, and "Cancer was not a word I expected to hear," wrote Vergara. After spending "countless hours in radiation treatments, and, eventually, in surgery," Vergara is now a cancer survivor, and the scar on her throat serves as a reminder of how blessed she felt on the day of her first acting class after diagnosis and treatment.

In her post, Vergara emphasized the importance of early detection and credited her battle with cancer for bringing her closer to her family. "This was something that brought my family closer together," she said in a telecast for 'Stand Up to Cancer' last year. "They were very supportive during that time, and I think that's why I'm here today, because of them", she added.
