Nick Cordero's widow Amanda Kloots slams Trump for downplaying Covid-19: 'It IS something to be afraid of'
Amanda Kloots who lost her actor husband Nick Cordero due to Covid-19 has slammed Donald Trump for downplaying the deadly virus despite being infected himself. Trump tested positive for the coronavirus last week and received his treatment at Walter Reed before returning to the White House Monday evening, October 5.
But his casual take on the pandemic angered Amanda who took to Instagram to condemn the POTUS. The mother-of-one shared a tweet of Trump in which he said: “I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”

In the caption, Amanda wrote: “To all the over 208,000 Americans who lost loved ones to this virus - I stand by you, with you, holding your hand. Unfortunately it did dominate our lives didn’t it? It dominated Nick’s family’s lives and my family’s lives. I guess we “let it” - like it was our choice?? Unfortunately not everyone is lucky enough to spend two days in the hospital. I cried next to my husband for 95 days watching what COVID did to the person I love. It IS something to be afraid of. After you see the person you love the most die from this disease you would never say what this tweet says. There is no empathy to all the lives lost. He is bragging instead. It is sad. It is hurtful. It is disgraceful.” Besides, Amanda also posted a few clips of her on her Instagram Story sharing the seriousness of coronavirus and how it feels to lose someone.
The latest post by the 38-year-old came months after Nick died on July 5 due to extreme coronavirus complications. The ‘Broadway’ star was admitted to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in late March after he got infected. Later, in April, one of his legs was amputated due to a blood clot. The 41-year-old also had internal bleeding and experienced lung damage.
Meanwhile, this was not the only instance Trump has faced criticism after getting discharged from Walter Reed. As soon as he reached his official residence, he removed his face mask and shot a video, which he shared on his Twitter account. In the clip, he said: “I just left Walter Reed Medical Center, and it’s really something very special — the doctors, the nurses, the first responders — and I learned so much about coronavirus. And one thing that’s for certain, don’t let it dominate you. Don’t be afraid of it. You’re gonna beat it. We have the best medical equipment; we have the best medicines — all developed recently — and you’re gonna beat it.”
But his speech and “carelessness” was not appreciated by people on Twitter. One user wrote: “How about the 210,000 families of those who died from COVID? How do you think they feel? Their lives are forever changed.” A second user said, “Why weren't these great treatments used to save the lives of 200,000+ people that died under your administration?!?!?!?!?!” CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins also took a dig at Trump and said: “Only days into his diagnosis, the first thing President Trump does when he gets back to the White House is take his mask off.”
