Kaepernick slammed for accusing US of 'imperialism' in wake of Soleimani strike: 'American terrorist attacks'
Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick put forward his views about the recent US airstrike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Taking to Twitter he wrote, "There is nothing new about American terrorist attacks against Black and Brown people for the expansion of American imperialism."
In a separate tweet he continued further, "America has always sanctioned and besieged Black and Brown bodies both at home and abroad. America militarism is the weapon wielded by American imperialism, to enforce its policing and plundering of the nonwhite world." Even though Kaepernick did not pinpoint the incident in his tweet, people were quick to take the guess and slammed in for taking the wrong side.
Many pointed out how what was done was right while adding that Kaepernick was not educated enough about the incident. "You realize the guy we killed, Soleimani, was responsible for killing 600+ Americans including Black & Brown Americans... right? I’m guessing you don’t since you thought Fidel Castro was a good guy despite stealing everything from innocent families like mine. Idiotic & vile take," wrote one user.
Another added, "Sooo... stopping actual terrorism from people who want Americans dead is racist... AND the Americans you try to sell shoes too are the "real terrorists" ...got it. I don't normally go in on boycotts, but I'm done giving Nike money until they fire this clown."
Meanwhile, some tried to educated him about the incident as one user wrote, "As a Syrian, did I not have the right to live in my own country, free from the oppression of a dictatorship? And when they did start to oppress my people, did I not have the right to resist? Suleimani’s actions were part of “Khomenism Imperialism”, not American."
This is not the first time that Kaepernick has faced backlash for his views. In the past, Kaepernick was slammed for not voting while also calling America a "stolen country".
