It appears Newsmax couldn't identify four Black conservatives and chose to add Herman Cain and Ben Shapiro to a graphic instead. The graphic aired on April 20, 2022, as the controversial far-right broadcaster was running a segment on Black conservatives. It didn't take long for social media to brutally troll Newsmax, as many mocked the channel for its error.

Like Fox News, Newsmax has become a popular punching bag for liberals, with the broadcaster often spewing wild conspiracy theories. In December 2021, as the on-air hosts were downplaying the need to get vaccinated, Newsmax hosted a party only for vaccinated guests. Just before that in September, host Grant Stinchfield cut off a veteran interviewee for criticizing Donald Trump. In fact, the channel is so close to Trump that he reportedly mulled buying it after losing the 2020 Presidential Election.

Ultimately, that never happened, but in many ways, Newsmax appears to be Trump TV. The channel is still claiming there was widespread fraud in 2020, and on April 20, decided Ben Shapiro would be Black.

'Are they so embarrassed by Tim Scott?'

The segment was being hosted by Greg Kelly, who was attacking the Democrats for their alleged treatment of Black conservatives. With the caption reading "Left considers Black conservatives to be traitors," Kelly said, "They’re out there, but they’re shunned because, boy oh boy, what they have to say." A graphic then appeared on screen, showing Sheriff David Clarke, Herman Cain, Ben Shapiro, and Ben Carson.

The only issue with that is Cain is dead, and Shapiro is not Black. Cain died from Covid-19 in July 2020, after weeks of refusing to mask up. Nonetheless, Newsmax thought it would be a good idea to feature Cain on its list. Even more hilariously though, Shapiro made an appearance as Kelly ranted, "If I lived in a country where every system was systemically racist, I’d move!" The network later addressed Shapiro's addition, with a chyron that read "Yes, white people can be champions of Black causes."

However, that didn't stop the flood of trolling and memes. "They couldn’t think of 4 living African American Republicans so they threw in Ben Shapiro and Herman Cain?!?" one user asked. Another noted, "Conservative media is running so low on black Republicans that Newsmax borrowed Ben Shapiro and a dead Herman Cain for this screen shot. Are they so embarrassed by Tim Scott they couldn’t use him? Too sexist to use Candace Owens?" A third trolled, "Okay, obviously Ben Shapiro being in the picture is obviously ridiculous, but does Newsmax know Herman Cain died of Covid almost two years ago? Like they don't think he's still alive because of that Twitter account, right?"

"Trump was responsible for the death of Herman Cain and Ben Shapiro is definitely not black. The people at Newsmax are f-----g idiots," one person tweeted. Another joked, "Apparently Herman Cain is the new Republican Jesus and he rose from the dead a couple days ago." One user mocked, "I mean, I considered Herman Cain a lot of things, but at this point I mostly consider him dead. And clearly Ben Shapiro is there bc the woke FoxNews hosts just had to have diversity."
