The new Superman
Corenswet, known for his roles in 'Look Both Ways,' 'Hollywood,' 'The Politician,' and the A24 film 'Pearl,' is taking on his first leading role in a major studio production. He will be starring opposite Rachel Brosnahan, who will portray Lois Lane in the rebooted film series, replacing Amy Adams.
Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, 'Superman: Legacy' explores Superman's journey of balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Corenswet and Brosnahan underwent rigorous auditions, testing for DC co-chairs Peter Safran and director James Gunn in full costume and make-up. The auditions took place over two days, with three actors donning 'full Superman attire,' concluding an extensive search for the new stars.
While British actors Tom Brittney and Nicholas Hoult were among the contenders for the Superman role, Corenswet ultimately landed the part. Phoebe Dynevor and Emma Mackey were also considered for the role of Lois but were narrowly edged out.
