Netflix cancels 'Sex/Life' days after Sarah Shahi called Season 2 'gimmicky'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Following lead star Sarah Shahi's recent criticism of the show, Netflix has announced that 'Sex/Life' will not be renewed for another season. In an interview on the 'Not Skinny But Not Fat' podcast, Shahi expressed her disappointment with the changes that occurred in Season 2 of the romantic drama, including not being able to work with her real-life partner, Adam Demos, as much as she would have liked. She also described aspects of the show as "challenging" and "gimmicky," and did not feel as supported during Season 2 as she did in the first season.
According to reports, Netflix has confirmed that there won't be a 'Sex/Life' Season 3. A spokesperson for the streaming service stated that Season 2 provided a natural conclusion to the story, with key characters getting a happy ending, and that they were proud of the work done by the show's producers, cast, and crew.

What did Sarah Shahi say?
On the 'Not Skinny But Not Fat' podcast, Sarah pointed out her disappointment regarding the direction the second season was headed. "I struggled with the material. I just felt the thing that it had the first season — I mean, I’m never gonna work for Netflix again now after saying all this, but I can’t lie. And it was definitely a challenge," she added.
"In Season 2, I felt like there were more moments that felt very gimmicky. Those kinds of things for me are always really hard to read… But I didn’t have to do them. The boys did," she explained.
How did Netflix respond?
Per various reports, a Netflix spokesperson confirmed that 'Sex/Life' Season 2 wrapped up the story of key characters and provided them with a happy ending and that there won't be a Season 3. The streaming service also praised the work done by the show's producers, cast, and crew.
Netflix didn't mention the reason for the cancellation of 'Sex/Life' which isn't surprising considering the network's earlier practices. Though speculations still remain whether Shahi's comments fuelled the decision to axe the show.
