NCT's Chenle gets autographed jersey from Stephen Curry, fans thank NBA star for making singer's dream come true

Chenle got one of his dreams fulfilled when he got a signed jersey from Curry and he donned the jersey in a video and thanked the NBA legend for his gesture

Who isn’t a fan of NBA legend Stephen Curry? Well, we surely are and it looks like the Golden State Warriors player has also got a fan following in South Korea. To be more specific, K-pop singer Zhong Chenle from NCT Dream is also an ardent fan of the basketball legend.

Chenle, who is one of the most loved artistes in South Korea, fulfilled one of his dreams when he got a signed jersey from Curry hilself. The 19-year-old crooner shared a video thanking the NBA player, which was then posted by the official NCT account on Twitter and guess what, Curry returned the favour with a short reply and this sent the internet into a frenzy.

How Stephen Curry made Chenle’s day

The NCT singer donned the signed jersey in the video and thanked Curry for his gesture. In the video, the NCT member can be seen wearing the Warriors’ official basketball uniform over a tee-shirt. Curry made Chenle’s day as he simply reverted to the video with “Enjoy”, and Chenle was soon trending on Twitter.

Chenle has apparently been sending tweets and letters to Curry for a while now and one of his videos also hit the internet where Chenle can be seen revealing his fondness for the NBA player back in August 2020. In the video, he said, “Did you see my tweets and letter? I am a big fan of yours. I always see your videos and share all of them with my friends. You are incredible. I know you are busy but thank you for having a call with me. I hope we can meet some time. Thank You.” 

How did it all start?

It is due to fellow NCT members Johnny and Mark that Chenle achieved his dream and got a reply on Twitter from the Warriors player. In the August 2020 video, the NCT members decided to use social media to message Curry. Chenle then posted a message to Curry incorporating the acronym “GOAT” in the tweet. The young crooner replied to a tweet by the basketball player and wrote, “Stephen Curry, you are the GOAT!," as reported by Cheatsheet.

Chenle also posted photos with Johnny and Mark on the official NCT Twitter account. In the tweet, as reported by the website, he said he had fun learning English with the two NCT members and he hoped he would be able to meet Curry one day. Interestingly, Curry wrote back, “Once the world gets back to normal, let’s make it happen! @warriors game? #CHENLE.” After this brief Twitter exchange, Curry and Chenle followed each other on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. According to Cheatsheet, Curry even tagged Chenle in a post and encouraged him to practice basketball.

Chenle’s fans did not waste any time to thank Curry. One stated, “you’re the best thank you stephen curry.” Another said, “congratulations chenleee!! finally after two years you got the gift you deserve since so long! what a successful fan~ hoping Curry will forever inspire you to do better and best!” The next fan posted, “Thank you Stephen Curry for making my boy happy. #NBAAllStar #StephenCurry,” while another added, “CHENLE YOU ARE LIVING YOUR BEST FAN LIFEEE.” One shared, “I am soo happy for him!!! He expressed many times how much he love Stephen Curry and how much he looks up to him and now he got an autographed jersey......dreams do come true for those who deserve it.”
