'The Enemy Within' is primed to be NBC's new hit spy-thriller show for the season, and so far, we're thrilled with what we have seen.
The show follows Erica Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter), a brilliant former CIA operative, who's serving life in a supermax prison for treason. Against his better judgement, FBI Agent Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut) enlists Shepherd to help him track down a fiercely dangerous and elusive criminal named Tal that she's previously worked with.
Shepherd was responsible for the loss of Keaton's fiance, and it's not easy for Keaton to trust the woman who cost him so much. While Shepherd and Keaton have different motivations for bringing the enemy to justice, Shepherd, considered the most notorious traitor in modern history in the show, is brought out of a federal supermax prison to help stop some of the most dangerous acts of espionage threatening the United States today.

Raza Jaffrey plays FBI agent Daniel Zain in the series, and he's part of the super sleuth team set up by Keaton, in order to bring Tal to justice. Daniel Zain is a close confidant of Keaton, and he's always present by his side or covering his rear in a gun battle.
Jaffrey was born to Indian Merchant Navy captain Hyder Jaffrey and Joan Bradshaw from Everton and appeared in many espionage series.
Being a spy is a role that's suited him the most, having worked in high profile espionage TV shows like 'Homeland' and 'MI-5'; but espionage roles is not the only talent in his acting roster, and the English-born Jaffrey is a singer as well.
His rise to fame was seen during his well-known and well-loved role as Dr. Neal Hudson on the CBS TV medical drama 'Code Black'.

His career took off to new heights, and he reprised his espionage role as Zafar Younis on the BBC One spy drama series 'Spooks' which is known in the US as 'MI-5'.
Jaffrey makes his living as a talented and highly sought after actor but that hasn't stopped him from pursuing other forms of entertaining as well. While studying English and drama in Manchester, Jaffrey was the lead singer of a jazz-funk band. Luckily, however, his success with the band did not prevent him from becoming the actor that many people love to watch today.

Jaffrey also acted in Netflix's critically acclaimed TV's series, 'Lost in Space', which was a reboot of the earlier TV show with the same name, and it's wonderful to see just how versatile this actor is.
What many people don't know about Jaffrey is that he's a licensed pilot, and he still flies today, usually out of the Van Nuys Airport in California. Further, he was actually planning on joining the Royal Air Force as a pilot after completing his studies, but thank goodness TV didn't lose this gem of an actor.
'The Enemy Within' will premiere on 25 February, only on NBC.
