NBC's sitcom '30 Rock'  became an instant hit among fans for its tongue-in-cheek humor and witty plotline. Unfortunately, not all the jokes made on the show are funny, some are straight-up insensitive and offensive. For instance, a few episodes of the show featured white characters donning the infamous "blackface". The show's creator, Tina Fey, seems to have realized how inappropriate it was, for she requested NBC to pull down the episodes featuring the "blackface" scenes.

In a statement issued by her, she wrote, "As we strive to do the work and do better in regards to race in America, we believe that these episodes featuring actors in race-changing makeup are best taken out of circulation. I understand now that ‘intent’ is not a free pass for white people to use these images. I apologize for pain they have caused. Going forward, no comedy-loving kid needs to stumble on these tropes and be stung by their ugliness. I thank NBCUniversal for honoring this request."

Despite Fey's apology and her conscious choice to pull down the inappropriate episodes, fans are not willing to buy the creator's words. Fans think that this is her preemptive measure to save herself and her reputation before she gets dragged into any controversies. A fan tweeted, "I loved 30 rock growing up. But the use of Black face on the show was never acceptable. And like I knew that in 6th grade? She hasn't learned that this was wrong. She's afraid of what will happen to her." Another wrote, "Tina Fey demanding to lockaway all the blackface 30 Rock episodes in the NBC vault is such a farce bc like... girl you wrote them... barely a decade ago?"

"Why the f**k was Tina Fey making blackface ANYTHING in 2006-2013? And why would @NBC air them?!," wondered one user. Another expressed, "Tina fey literally produced an entire episode of unbreakable kimmy schmidt about how idiotic people are who speak out about the offensive nature of dressing up as other races. This was years after the blackface in 30 rock. She's not sorry now, just scrambling to cover her a**." One more said, "So, phony #TinaFey wants people to believe that even though #30Rock ran from 2006 to 2013, hardly the 19th century, she is only just now cognizant that including blackface on the show she wrote, acted on and executive produced was a bad idea and hurtful? B***h, please," pointed out a fan. Another fan observed, "If you know Tina Fey’s history with race at all you understand this has nothing to do with sensitivity and everything to do with pre-emptive legacy maintenance."
