NBA's Trevor Ariza accused of child abuse, fans demand evidence saying he 'chose son over career'
NBA champion Trevor Ariza who plays for Portland Trail Blazers is being slammed with serious child abuse accusations by the mother of his 12-year-old son, Lana Allen, according to TMZ. According to the reports, Ariza has blatantly denied all the allegations and has decided to fight in the court with a set of documents to support his own case. Allen reportedly claimed that Ariza abused their child on multiple occasions.
Reports suggested that Ariza recently opted out of the Orlando bubble to spend time with his child. It was also said that the player was granted a one-month visitation window by Allen that overlapped with his quarantine in the bubble ahead of the game. Ariza, Allen and the child have been involved in custody battle for a while now. However, Allen has now accused Ariza of domestic violence against their son in the new court documents filed in Los Angeles. The allegations date back to 2019 and showcase a pattern of alleged violence carried out against their son.
TMZ reported that the details of the violence are “graphic”, where Ariza is allegedly accused of “dishing out corporal punishment on at least two occasions” and “clearly crossed the line”. Allen has also requested a restraining order against Ariza in the new court documents. She claims that the child “fears” his father and has also noted that she feels her son is “not safe in his care”.
Ariza, meanwhile, has reportedly denied all the allegations. He has further accused Allen of “alienating” him from his child, causing a crack in the father-son relationship. According to TMZ, his statement reads, "What is occurring here is in fact (Allen's) abuse of the minor child by her relentless, cruel loyalty conflict for (the child), alienation campaign and selfishly driven attempts to interfere in father and son's relationship." Both the parents are battling in the court for the custody of their child. The trial has been set for October.
The news has come across as a shock to Ariza’s fans and others for obvious reasons. As soon as the child abuse allegations against the player started swirling on the internet, his fans took to Twitter to express their opinion about the accusations against Ariza, with the majority of them asking for evidence and proof.
One of his fans tweeted, "im not gonna assume anything until evidence comes out." Meanwhile, one of them noted that Ariza is being falsely accused by the mother of his child for personal reasons. "Smh I worked in family law 3 years. This is a women's go to (that and cheating) when they wanna screw over a man in court. It's sad and should be punishable by law when it's proven 2 be false. I just got married and this type of s**t scares me," read the tweet.

A lot of people are of the opinion that he wouldn't have opted out of the game to spend time with his son and lost a significant amount of pay if his intentions were to beat him up. One tweeted, "Why would he opt out of the season for his kid if all he was gonna do is beat him."

Adding to the previous tweet another expressed, "I won’t form an opinion on the matter until I see evidence. HOWEVER, this is the same woman that set a visitation window when Ariza had basketball activities. He chose his son over his career, that’s what I know."
