'F**k that!!': Chris Paul rages after his family is attacked by Dallas fans, viewers 'feel sick'
On Sunday, May 8, a fan was escorted out of American Airlines Center during the Suns' Game 4 against the Dallas Mavericks after allegedly harassing Chris Paul's family. Chris Paul had to deal with the ridiculousness of a 15-year-old, among others, harassing his family in the audience. According to media reports, the player's mother was assaulted by Dallas supporters, his wife was pushed and his children felt 'threatened' during the basketball game.
There is a fine line between being a dedicated fan of a team and being a heckler, and Chris Paul and his family have regrettably had to deal with the latter. Paul's mother and Chris' two children were watching the game from seats near the Suns' bench when his mother was assaulted and his wife was pushed into the audience. Despite all of the preventative measures and appropriate sanctions for fans who engage in excessive trash-talking of players, the NBA does not appear to be taking hecklers seriously. This leniency, which began when supporters were invited back to venues after an extended absence owing to COVID-19 regulations, appears to be continuing. Since then, supporters have been heckling players and their families in practically every basketball-playing city. One fan was apparently asked to leave the American Airlines Center during the Suns' Game 4 clash against the Dallas Mavericks only after he placed his hands on Paul's mother, reported Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
