The National Hockey League (NHL) is considered to be the premier professional ice hockey league in the world, and one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. With 31 teams, 24 based in the United States and seven in Canada, NHL boasts of some of the hottest athletes in the world. 

As hockey season comes back, here's a list of all the talented and good looking players that you need to know about. 

Victor Hedman

A three-time James Norris Memorial Trophy finalist and winner in 2018, Victor Hedman is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman and alternate captain for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected second overall by the Lightning in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Connor McDavid

Considered to be one of the best players in the wold, Connor McDavid has won the Art Ross Trophy twice as the leading scorer in the league, the Hart Memorial Trophy in 2017, and the Ted Lindsay Award twice. The Canadian professional ice hockey centre is the captain of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Alexis Lafreniere

The Canadian major junior ice hockey player is the captain of Rimouski Océanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. At 18, he is immensely popular and was first selected overall by the Rimouski Océanic in 2017. He was also awarded the QMJHL Rookie of the Year award and was named to the First All-Star team in his rookie season.

Andrei Vasilevskiy

The Russian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Vasilevskiy was drafted in the first round, 19th overall, by the Lightning at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He is popular as the "Big Cat" and was the NHL's wins leader in 2018 and 2019. Not just that, he also won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goaltender in the 2018–19 season.

Nathan MacKinnon

The Canadian professional ice hockey center and alternate captain of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL), Nathan MacKinnon was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia and grew up playing in the minor ice hockey system. He was selected first overall by the Avalanche in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Alexander Wennberg

The Swedish professional ice hockey player plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Before joining the NHL, Wennberg played professionally in the Swedish Hockey League.

Patrick Kane

A finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award last season, Patrick Kane is an American professional ice hockey right winger and alternate captain for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He won three Stanley Cups as a member of the Blackhawks, in 2010, 2013 and 2015 and clinched the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the playoffs in 2013. Not just that, he represented the United States at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics.

Carey Price

Carey Price, the Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL) is known as one of the best goaltenders in the world. Sports buff and journalists have often labeled him as one of the greatest goalies in the history of the Montreal Canadiens.

Beau Bennett

An American professional ice hockey right winger, Beau Bennett is currently playing with the Tucson Roadrunners in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract with the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is the highest-drafted Californian born-and-trained player in NHL history and became the first California born-and-trained player to win the Stanley Cup in 2016.

Trevor Van Riemsdyk

American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL), Trevor Van Riemsdyk clinched the Stanley Cup in 2015, his rookie season, with the Chicago Blackhawks.
