On his Instagram page last Sunday, MrBeast posted a photo of himself holding a cash-filled briefcase to announce his birthday giveaway. The YouTuber, who has a following of 152 million subscribers, is recognized for his magnanimous cash prizes to contest winners and people caught in his videos.
One of his channels, Beast Philanthropy, chronicles his attempts to “make the world a better place” by supporting the hungry, homeless, and unemployed. MrBeast's philanthropic initiatives are financed through his advertising revenue, merchandise sales, and sponsorship agreements, as stated on the channel's webpage.
MrBeast had promised to select winners within 72 hours of his birthday giveaway post on Sunday. However, on Wednesday, Instagram removed the post, which had already amassed more than 19 million likes at that time, causing some complications.
