What is the most dangerous sex position for men? Experts warn of penile fractures
If you thought you are invincible in bed in any sex position, Dr Karan Raj wants you to think again. The UK-based doctor, who is hugely popular on TikTok for his medical advice videos, has warned that one of the most common sex positions among heterosexual couples causes half of the global cases of penis fracture. And yes, penile fracture is a real thing and unfortunately happens to many men.
In one of his latest TikTok videos which went massively viral, Dr Karan Raj revealed that the 'reverse cowgirl' position is most dangerous when considering the chances of penis fractures. "If there is any erratic thrusting or if the movements of the two parties are not in sync it could lead to the [penis] slipping out and being crushed by the female pubic bone," he said. He further added that the position is responsible for making a penis look like an aubergine. "Despite being boneless, the penis can break...over-enthusiastic sex could leave your penis looking like an Aubergine," he added.

According to a 2004 research paper published in PMC, a penile fracture is described as "the traumatic rupture of the tunica albuginea of an erect penis." The study further elaborates, "Penile fractures typically occur when the engorged penile corpora are forced to buckle and literally “pop” under the pressure of a blunt sexual trauma. Patients typically describe immediate detumescence, severe pain, and swelling as a result of the injury."
As painful as that reads, the actual risk might be more than imagined. However, a study from 2017, somewhat contradicts Dr Karan Raj's claim to some extent, as it states that Doggy Style is the position causing more than 41% of penis fractures, closely followed by missionary and woman-on-top. "The severity of the fracture was similar between doggy and missionary, but significantly worse when comparing doggy and woman-on-top," found the study.
