LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It is no secret that the 'Supernatural' has a cult following, and why shouldn't it? The CW series first aired in 2005 and went on for 15 seasons. Fans saw Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, as the Winchester brothers who used to hunt demons, ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural beings. However, in the prequel series, “Mary (Meg Donnelly) is 19 years old and has been fighting the forces of darkness since she was a child. After losing someone close to her, the hardened hunter considers quitting the family business — until her father’s disappearance and the arrival of newcomer John (Drake Rodger) forces her to lead a new team. John has recently returned from Vietnam. Selfless and clear-headed, he finds a new mission back home, where traces of his father’s past lead him to a secret organization and a whole new war as a hunter. Furthermore, the show brought back 'Supernatural' alums Ruth Connell, Richard Speight Jr., Alexander Calvert, Jim Beaver, and Jensen Ackles, who served as an executive producer on the series alongside his wife, Danneel.

Pursuit of profitability

As per Deadline, “The CW has opted not to pick up a second season of 'The Winchesters'. The news is not surprising; the 'Supernatural' prequel was among the long-shot renewal prospects at the network under its new ownership as it focuses on unscripted and lower-cost scripted programming (primarily international acquisitions/co-productions) in pursuit of profitability.”

'It was just disappointing to watch'

However, after the news surfaced online fans were elated to hear it. A fan said, "Supernatural was so good a spin off will never hit the same it was just disappointing to watch," while another wrote, "It’s funny cus tv networks put all this money into questionable series and spin offs just for it to get axed in the first season And then they be like “WeLl WhAt HaPpEn”." A fan shared, "More like the Losechesters." A fan tweeted, "They had the opportunity for a great spin-off and they gave us this instead. Pfft." Lastly, a fan mentioned, "Looooool. Given how long supernatural lasted, it’s just funny."
