'Supernatural' Season 15 Episode 9: Dean and Cas might reconcile and we'll get to see this after the CW show returns from its break
While many fans have cried about 'Supernatural' airing too many filler episodes while the main storyline remains stagnant, it has become abundantly clear that the showrunners are doubling down on making the show come full circle, especially with the monster-a-week episodes and revisiting the bigger storylines that made us attached to the show. The fall finale of the ongoing fifteenth and final season of the CW series is a testament to this, and we could not be happier.
The very first thing we see about God (Rob Benedict) in the previously aired Season 15 Episode 7 is that he is not all that hot at the moment. He has killed everyone in a casino except for the one waitress he needs to make him a drink. And, it clearly is the right time for the Anti-God squad to attack him. However, there are complications, because killing him would mean destroying all of his creations, and yet, there is a possibility. If God was able to lock his sister Amara (Emily Swallow), who as the Darkness to God's Light is the only equal opposite force to him.
Meanwhile, the Winchesters are building the army to defeat God, and it includes their brother Adam (Jake Abel) who is now friends with the archangel, Michael. As fans will remember, Adam was locked in a cage with Michael for ten years, and now that they have both escaped want nothing to do with their families. Michael lives on in Adam's mind and takes the reign when need be. The conversations between Adam and Michael make for some of the best moments in the episode, especially when we see how the good son refuses to doubt his father, even when he was left to rot in hell.
However, he does come around when Cas (Misha Collins) shows him God's evil reel and hands over the spell they used to lock Amara in eons ago. The catch in the spell is that one of the ingredients is the nectar from a Leviathan blossom and Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Cas are tasked with crossing over to Purgatory. This obviously offers the two former BFFs the chance to reconcile, as Rowena (Ruth Connell) advised them to do earlier in the episode. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) is going to chat with Chuck aka God and see if he can sort things out before its too late.
This is where 'Supernatural' leaves us in 2019 and the wait for the return of the CW series on January 16, 2020, beings right away. After all, only the last leg of the long-running series remains and we are more than a little nostalgic.
