So, what was the plan? And did he manage to execute the plan? Or do they all die brutally? Hold up, guys, the ending might make you feel a lot emotional than you really think. So, let’s take a look at how ‘Money Heist’ or ‘La Casa De Papel’ ended.
‘Money Heist’ Ending Explained: What was the plan to get everyone out? Did they get out in the end?
Professor gets inside the bank and deals with Tamayo after getting reunited with the rest of the gang. Now, the plan starts with Professor telling Tamayo that the gold has been taken away and as a result, Spain’s economy will go down and by 7-10 days, the entire country will become bankrupt. We head to the flashback, in which, Professor tells the team that bank trading is like gambling and people can bet on anything. This is what the heist team will give to the big corporations that are desperately waiting to have some profit.
The Professor says that as soon as the news of gold being out surfaces, betting against Spain will become the market’s winning horse. This will cause a lot of panic in the minds of the investors and they will sell Spanish debts and shares, which will then, make the stock market go down, and most importantly, the risk premium will go over 800 points which will put immense pressure on the government.
And that’s when the leverage comes. As soon as the market plummets, they will give them the offer that they will return the gold to them and in return, all members of the heist group must be given a safe passage to leave the bank harmlessly.
On the other hand, Tamayo gets to know that if they didn’t get the gold then the country will file for bankruptcy in just 10 days. Tamayo loses his mind and punches Professor multiple times asking about the gold. Tamayo says that only he will go out as the winner and kill him in front of his girlfriend. Professor tells him that Spain’s market is going down and the country is going into an unprecedented crisis because of you. So, you won’t be the winner. He says, “In this game, either we both win or we both lose.”
On the other hand, Denver was taken for the interrogation and he didn’t tell anything so he was taken into police custody.
‘Money Heist’ Ending Explained: Did Tamayo find the gold?
There was a plan for that too. They make a plan that if police are after the gold, they are going to give police such info that makes it hard for them to reach there so that they get to know that everything that’s been happening is real. One of the police officers saw video footage which saw Marseille and all dumping the gold into a boat standing in the Cantabrian Sea. Then, they went for the boat’s staff and took them hostage.
Angel, one of the police officers reached the port and had a conversation with one of the boat’s staff. The person told him that they took the boat into the middle of the ocean and they were dumping something into the ocean.
When Professor told Alicia to search for the gold, he told Marseille to go back to Stormwater Tank and burn everything. But, he told him to leave a little bit of tease for the police. All things they found were sent to forensics and they confirmed that everything is burnt and all they could find are different parts of the maps that were purposefully left there so that Tamayo believes that the ocean is where they are dumping the gold.
Tamayo goes berserk and tells the navy about it. A lot of their ships are being called in to look for the gold. Meanwhile, at the bank, the army people are shooting the walls to distract the media. Palermo gets to know what’s happening and smiles. He tells everyone to be positive because they might be going out soon. Rio and Helsinki feel the same positivity and they believe something good is about to happen.
‘Money Heist’ Ending Explained: The video of the Heist goes out
In an insane plan, Professor tells everyone that they will tell everyone how they managed to get the gold out of the bank. They shoot a video with Palermo telling how they transferred the gold out of the vault. The video was picked up by every news outlet in Spain and the rest of the world. However, no one could understand why they are doing it.
World Media is telling everyone how Spain will lose everything and will go bankrupt in less than 10 days. Professor thinks that now Tamayo will come and negotiate.

Tamayo wants to negotiate and calls Professor, along with Lisbon, to talk about it. Professor tells Tamayo that he has to go outside and tell the Press that police have found the gold. Tamayo is not okay with doing that and tells his men to shoot is partners if he doesn’t come up with a better plan. But Professor says that either we win or we lose.
Elsewhere, Alicia has managed to find a place where the gold could have been hidden. They see the house and get to know that the entire lawn is refabricated, but as soon as they try digging it up, Rafael, his wife, and all their men come to reach the place. Both parties take their weapons out when Alicia calls Professor’s nephew and hands out a note that Professor gave her.
Meanwhile, Tamayo is out giving a press conference and telling the media that police have managed to recover all the gold reserve of the Bank of Spain. Professor told him to say that he came inside the bank to negotiate the gang’s surrender to prevent any greater harm.
As soon as he ends the press conference, two trucks filled with a gold stop in front of the bank. Tamayo comes inside furiously because the gold that came in the back of the truck was not actual gold, it was brass with gold paint on it. Professor tells him that the actual gold is the only way that they’ll be able to get out and he’ll never tell where it is. Tamayo orders his men to kill every member of the group as he starts counting from 10 to 1.
Professor says that brass is the only option he has and if you shoot them, he’ll tell the world that Tamayo is a traitor because he has all the documents to prove that. When Tamayo doesn’t stop, Professor gets really frustrated and says that he will never tell where the gold is and no one will ever be able to find that gold. He reiterates that “either we both win or we both lose.”
Tamayo stops and the game is over.
‘Money Heist’ Ending Explained: Did everyone die?
Tamayo goes out and addresses the media that the operation is complete and the hostages are coming out. During the fighting, every gang member of the Heist Team was shot dead and he takes everyone’s names. Denver, who was outside, cried miserably. The bodies have been put into different bags and taken into hospital vans.
The army general brings a paper to Denver and wants him to sign on it. As soon as he opens the file, he sees the red bird that Professor made out of paper. As soon as the hospital vans reach a safe distance, it is revealed that Professor’s plan worked and they all are alive. They are just put into body bags to give an illusion that they have died, but everyone is alive and happy to get out of there.
During the ending moments of the episode, the whole gang meets up at a military base and Denver also reaches there. They are given their passports and they can now live anywhere in the world. Alicia also reaches there and Professor gives her the passport so that she and her daughter can start a new life. Professor asks her about the gold, to which, Alicia replies that “Gold is in Portugal”.
The show ends with every gang member sitting inside a helicopter as they take off to a safer location and they celebrate inside the copter. The entire team – Professor, Lisbon, Denver, Stockholm, Helsinki, Manila, Palermo, Rio, Bogota, Matias, and Marseille – take off to a safer location as the whole team celebrates their victory.
