Álvaro Morte's journey to stardom

Álvaro Antonio García Pérez known professionally as Álvaro Morte, is a Spanish actor who is now a household name all over the world, but that wasn't always the case. The actor began his career in the year 2000 when he played a minor role in the Spanish television series 'Hospital Central'. He followed that up with a few small roles until he landed a part as a main character of Ray, a driver in the TV show  'Planta 25'. He portrayed him for two years and the show which aired on multiple regional channels won him some recognition.

Morte went on to work in many TV shows, movies and soaps like ' Bandolera', 'Amar en tiempos revueltos', ' Lola, la película' and more. In 2014 he joined the cast of a long-running telenovela 'El secreto de Puente Viejo' which he starred in until 2017. Little did he know the role of a lifetime was about to come knocking.

In 2017 he bagged the role of  Sergio "el Profesor" Marquina in the action-thriller television series 'Money Heist', which aired on the Spanish channel Antena 3. Now, a limited release didn't make him the well-known actor that he is today as Spain is still quite a small nation. His portrayal of the character was met with high praises but when Netflix acquired the rights to 'Money Heist' only then did the whole world discover the gem of an actor. 'Money Heist' which was originally just supposed to be a two-part series suddenly saw unanticipated love and demand across the globe. Its success led Netflix to order more seasons with an even higher budget than before.

El Professor and Alvaro Morte became synonymous and fans couldn't imagine any other actor playing him. The highly intelligent mastermind character became an instant fan favorite with the show topping country charts worldwide. This also gave the actor the chance to star in his first feature film which was Netflix's 'Mirage'. Most recently he will be seen starring Amazon Prime Video's upcoming fantasy series 'The Wheel of Time' as Logain.
