MISSION VIEJO, CALIFORNIA: Model Brooklinn Khoury, whose upper lip was torn away by a pit bull, gave an update on her condition and expressed her gratitude for the results following her final reconstructive procedure. Khoury, a 23-year-old from Mission Viejo, California, posted on Instagram that "everything is healing so well" and that she was delighted.
Khoury posted a picture of her physician at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center outlining her lip with a blue marker, writing, "Almost three weeks post-op! Everything is healing so well. Still pretty swollen but so blessed with the results!" She recently published more photos of herself displaying her new smile, and she also revealed on her Instagram Stories that all of her stitches had been removed. In a similar instance from 2022, Sadee Duernberger, 21, sustained horrific injuries on her lips while petting her dog, who suddenly lunged at her and bit her. Her face was stitched back together by the plastic surgeon. Also, back in December 2022, two brothers received praise for saving their three-year-old sister from a vicious dog attack. Returning to Khoury, the pro skateboarder has been posting updates about her health to social media, and her most recent collection of images indicated that her lip had nearly fully recovered.

What happened to Brooklinn Khoury?
Khoury was visiting her family in Arizona in November 2020 when Diesel, her cousin's eight-year-old pit bull, attacked her without warning. She was in the kitchen when the incident took place, and sustained injuries to her lip and a portion of her nose.
In 2021, Khoury told People, "I was like, 'You're such a good boy.' He literally sprung from a sitting position like onto my face. I was standing, and he was sitting — he literally just sprung up. And he was literally, hanging — literally like arms, legs hanging off of my lip. And my first instinct was like, 'Oh my God, get on the ground with him, hold his head, go wherever he goes.'"
The pit bull eventually released its grip, and "something flew and hit the wall," Khoury said. She claimed that there was "blood everywhere," and when she noticed a pink lump on the ground, she knew it was her lip. She carried a part of her lip with her when she went to the emergency room, but the medical professionals were unable to reconnect it.
'It's crazy how your life can change so dramatically'
On November 6, 2020, Khoury began posting updates about her recovery on Instagram. She wrote, "It's crazy how your life can change so dramatically in the split of a second. I'm trying to stay as positive as I can about this whole situation, but I will be honest I am scared about my future, or if I'll ever be able to smile again or eat normally."
"This is the beginning of a long journey to recovery. I hate asking for anything but It would mean the world if you would pray for me. Please remember to hug someone you love today," Khoury concluded, while posting a picture of herself in the hospital with a teddy bear.
