'She took care of him': Woman, 67, mauled to death by abandoned pit bull she took in
VALENCIA, SPAIN: In a horrific incident, a British woman was mauled to death by a pit bull in Spain. It was an abandoned dog she had decided to pet just a few days ago before it brutally attacked the 67-year-old woman. She found the dog in a field near Valencia, located on the country’s southeastern coast. As per local reports, authorities reached at around 2 pm on Friday, February 24, after residents heard screams from the alleged attack.
“So that the emergency services could help the woman, the regulatory firearm was used, killing the animal,” said the Civil Guard. He further added, “The agents of the Civil Guard and the medical services managed to stabilize her in order to proceed with her transfer to the nearest medical center.” The woman who succumbed to her injuries was hospitalized in critical condition. She lived alone as both her daughters are staying abroad.

'The woman welcomed him'
The mayor of Macastre, Vicente M Montó, acknowledged the demise of the woman and talked about the victim’s love for animals, “She was an affable person, well-known in the town. She had been here since 2005.” He further said, “The woman welcomed him, fed him, and took care of him and he was in perfect condition with her, and we do not understand what could have caused the attack.” Interestingly, Spain enacted the Law on Possession of Potentially Dangerous Animals, which mentioned specifically the Pit Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Tosa Inu, and Akita Inu, reports the Daily Mail.
Texas man arrested after his pit bulls attacked elderly couple
In an unrelated story, a Texas man has been arrested after his two pit bulls attacked an elderly couple, killing one and severely injuring another. Christian Alexander Moreno, 31, was booked with an 'attack by a dangerous dog causing death and injury to an elderly person, both felonies as per the San Antonio Police Department press release. San Antonio Fire Department crews responding to the scene observed the man "being dragged by a dog (and) completely bloody before they got off the fire truck," Chief Charles Hood said.
