'Worst day of our life': Family recalls ordeal as 'hero' brothers save their sister, 3, from brutal dog attack
EL PASO, ARKANSAS: Two young brothers are being hailed as "heroes" for saving their 3-year-old sister from a gruesome dog attack. The attack took place in their grandmother's home in El Paso, Arkansas on Sunday, December 11. The unleashed neighborhood dogs reportedly darted towards the young girl, Annsley, 3, who was then rescued by her brave older brothers, Declan, 6, and Aiden, 10. “It was the worst day of our life ever,” Brenda Hrubes, the grandmother of the children, told KARK.
The three siblings were reportedly playing outside their grandmother's house when a neighbor's unleashed dogs allegedly ran into the yard and chased the girl, according to GoFundMe launched for their family's medical expenses following the attack. The parents said that when Declan intervened, the dogs savagely attacked him as he carried his sister away and guarded her. At that point, Aiden stepped in between his siblings and the dogs, thereby stopping the attack but also taking the brunt of his two siblings' injuries, reported People.

"We knew that these boys were gonna be special, we just had no idea how right we were," Jacob Michael Moore and Caitlin Mayo, their parents wrote on the fundraising page. The boys have said to have received stitches and undergone surgery.
The family said the children were rushed to the hospital, where Declan received stitches "all over his body," and Aiden underwent surgery. "We calculated that his surgery yesterday closed at least 38 [vicous] wounds," the children's grandmother, Brenda Hrubes shared on Facebook. "We found a new bite on the back of his head that still needs to be cleaned and treated." Moore referred to his sons as "true heroes."
“My 10-year-old grandson was laying there saying, ‘I’m dying, ‘Bren bren I’m dying, tell everyone I love them',” Hrubes told KARK. “Aiden, man, this kid is the bravest, best big brother ever,” Mayo said in a Facebook post. “The doctors told my mom if he had not gotten those dogs off Declan, we would be planning a funeral.” Despite the fact that Aiden is now making progress toward recuperation, he and Declan agreed that keeping their sister safe was their top priority.
Mayo further told THV11 that she plans on taking legal action against the dog owners. But it was not immediately clear if authorities are pressing charges, as per reports.
