Republican Senator Mitt Romney took to Twitter to share a rather cutting and rude remark about Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday, September 7. Romney shared a photograph of himself getting a haircut from his wife at home and also included a dig at Pelosi over her beauty salon incident amid the coronavirus lockdown. The Utah politician had captioned the picture, "Getting cleaned up for resumption of the Senate. Better salon than Pelosi’s!"

The picture featured Romney grinning while sitting in front of his wife, Ann, as she used a pair of scissors over his locks. Pelosi had come under fire when security footage that was obtained by Fox News showed the House Speaker with wet hair in San Fransisco's e-salon and no face mask. Many social media users took to commenting on the post with many slamming Romney for his "childish" post. One such user had written, "wow. this is the most surprising and childish thing i would have ever expected from you. you just keep going lower and lower. wow."

Another commented on the picture and said, "Oh Mitt. Come on. Please don’t say you are now joining the juvenile snark with that salon comment. That was a right-wing media outrage distraction from nearly 200 k dead Americans. Totally beneath your office and maturity."

"You were my governor in MA. Didn’t vote for u but thought u did a good job, esp w healthcare ...-and I love ur wife But this kind of comment is beneath you. I expect more from you ..not Ted Cruz worthy adolescent zingers," shared a disappointed social media user. Yet another user commented, "What an uncalled, trump—like remark. It was a setup. For them lying to her, their licenses should be revoked and salons closed. It is the salon’s responsibility to follow state laws, inform the customers of the laws and to in force them. They lied to her. Check facts first &laws."

A Twitter user who echoed the same sentiments and chimed in, "Just when you think a republican could be a decent human being they show how petty and juvenile they are. Sad."

Pelosi herself has been very critical of her Republican colleagues and POTUS Donald Trump for failing to follow the coronavirus protocols. Pelosi said that she had been set up by the owner of the eSalon, Erica Kious, had intentionally set Pelosi up and had also authorized the hair appointment. Kious has denied the claims made by Pelosi and told Fox News, "Pelosi] had called the stylist, or her assistant did and had made the appointment so the appointment was already booked so there was no way I could have set that up. And I've had a camera system in there for five years, I mean I didn't go in there and turn cameras on as soon as she walked in and set her up so that's absolutely false." "Not only did I not set her up, her assertion that she is a victim and set up is totally false and outrageous," she continued. Kious also shared that she has received death threats and claims her business was "done".
