Miss World 2019: Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica takes home the crown
Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica has been crowned as Miss World 2019. Singh competed with a total of 111 contestants to take home the crown. Throughout the show, the 23-year-old showcased her talent and mesmerized people with her vocal skills. The Jamaican beauty queen wowed the audience during the final night as well when she sang Whitney Houston's classic "I Have Nothing."
Singh was vocal about supporting others and helping others shine bright. "As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously allow others to do the same" was the motto that she was living by. With Singh being crowned as Miss World, this is the fourth time the country is taking home the crown.
Before taking home the crown, Singh had thanked everyone for supporting her and added that every one of them is a winner. "Win, Lose, or Draw, this experience was a victory.
Thank you @missworld for this platform, my new sisters, and this incredible experience. I leave a changed woman," she wrote. "And thank YOU all for your love. My heart is full ❤️ One Love."
Many were quick to take it to social media to congratulate the new winner. "Another Black Woman winning a prestigious pageant. Black beauties are slaying this years pageant Congratulations Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh," read one comment.
Another wrote, "We've wanted this for sooooooo looongggg! We've finally gotten the title again! Miss World 2019 - Jamaica! Congratulations Toni-Ann Singh!" Others were happy that the crown was coming home after a long time as another comment read, "After 26 years, Jamaica was reclaimed their title of Miss World 2019. Congratulations to our Miss Jamaica, Ms Toni-Ann Singh - the 4th Jamaican to win the title. Merry Christmas to us. #Jamaica #stilldibest"
But most of all, people were happy that women of color had taken home the crown as another wrote, "Miss World 2019 is Toni-ann Singh from Jamaica... Again Black beauty ..!! She is a great singer and off course well-spoken person..."
