Miley Cyrus smashes pregnancy rumors with playful tweet loaded with pop cultural references
Trust Miley Cyrus to bust any rumors about her like a boss! After it was reported that Miley was pregnant just a few days after getting hitched to actor Liam Hemsworth, the 'Wrecking Ball' singer too to Twitter to squash the rumor, all the while making a tongue in cheek reference to a picture of an egg that beat out a Kylie Jenner snap as the most liked picture on Instagram.
Miley tweeted on Wednesday: "I am not 'egg-xpecting' but it's 'egg-celent' to hear everyone is 'so happy for us'... We're happy for us too! 'Egg-cited' for this next chapter in our lives... Now can everyone leave me alone and go back to staring at an egg."
The tweet was accompanied by a picture of the singer with a photoshopped image of the famous egg on her dress indulging in the notorious tongue thing that is one of Miley's contribution to modern pop culture.
Miley's denial comes post OK! Australia reported that Miley and her hubby 29-year-old Liam Hemsworth were expecting a baby girl.
The publication cited a source as saying, "Miley's over the moon because she's carrying Liam's baby... It's a girl, which is what [they] hoped for. He called his brothers and parents. [Miley] got him to Skype call her family, too. Her mum was crying."
The source further added that the newlyweds would be raising their child in Australia and were reportedly looking for a house near Byron Bay in New South Wales.
In a 2009 interview with Glamour magazine, Miley vowed that she would be married with kids by 2019. When asked where she saw herself in 10 years, she shared, "Hopefully I'll be settled: making movies, living in a house, maybe even married."
"I think my mom [Tish Cyrus] did everything pretty close to perfect, and I want to be the cool mum that the kids run home to," she continued. "One day I'm wearing Converse sneakers, and the next I'm in the hippie look. I definitely feel like I know myself more than I ever have, but I don't feel rushed to figure myself out. I have all the time in the world to do that."
Cyrus and Hemsworth started dating in the year 2009 when the couple met on the sets of 'The Last Song'. They announced that their engagement in 2012 but unfortunately broke up the following year. They got back together in 2016 when Miley was seen wearing her engagement ring again. On December 23, the pair got married in Tennessee with only close friends and family involved in the intimate ceremony.
