Miley Cyrus undergoes vocal cord surgery, needs to remain silent for several weeks as part of recovery
After being hospitalized for tonsilitis, Miley Cyrus is now resting after undergoing a vocal cord surgery, People has reported. According to its sources, Miley discovered another issue with her vocal cords that she didn't know she had while undergoing treatment for tonsilitis. The surgery has put the singer on the road to recovery which includes weeks of silence as well.
Because of this, she's put recording and her performances on hold. Another source close to her said that she is "doing great and will be back and better than ever early next year.” The singer, who just released her latest album earlier this year 'She is Coming' and worked on a collaboration with pop stars Lana Del Rey and Ariana Grande for 'Don't Call Me Angel' was working on getting new music out and a tour. "She is still going to release new music but it's taking longer than anticipated," a source said. "Some of it has to do with the throat surgery she recently had," the source said.
A source told E!, "Miley's recovery will be several weeks without being able to speak. She is texting and writing things for now. She is doing well and looking forward to getting back to making music." Plus, she's got boyfriend Cody Simpson with her this time as well. Simpson had serenaded her at the hospital the last time she was in for her tonsilitis. "Cody was with her in the hospital and has been by her side," a source told the outlet. "He's with her at the house keeping her company. They are staying in resting up and watching movies."
Miley has been having a tough couple of months lately, with turmoil in her personal life as well. She split with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth after their on-again-off-again relationship and a split with girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter in September.
