Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson split after singer wants 'to focus on herself' in turbulent aftermath of divorce from Liam Hemsworth
Just when it seemed like Miley Cyrus had found the love of her life - in a third-time-lucky sort of a way - the latest report suggested that she has broken up with Cody Simpson, following her contentious divorce from Liam Hemsworth.
“They are taking a break, but want to remain friends,” an insider told Radar Online. “She said she just needs to focus on herself.”
Soon after announcing her separation from her husband of less than a year, followed by the announcement of their divorce in August, the "Don't Call Me Angel" singer was seen getting intimate with Brody Jenner’s ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter. They had a whirlwind romance for a few weeks after which, she called it quits with her and moved on with Cody.
On November 8, after she underwent vocal chord surgery, she posted photos and videos with Cody, making their relationship social media official.
The same outlet which reported their split also previously claimed that her romance with Cody was simply a gimmick to get Liam's attention, which ultimately backfired after "The Last Song" actor unfollowed her on Instagram.
“This romance with Cody…and constant ‘look at me’ behavior is all designed to push Liam’s buttons— and to be fair it’s always worked in the past because he’s a good guy who ultimately loves her,” an insider said at the time. “But now he’s just rolling his eyes and washing his hands of her, even as a friend, which of course is driving Miley nuts.”
However, there have been other reports which have claimed that Miley and Cody are growing strong despite the breakup rumors. "Miley and Cody saw each other last week when he visited her in Tennessee. They are fine and are still dating," a source tells E! News. "Miley has been resting from her vocal surgery but has been in touch and seen Cody recently."
"Miley always made it clear to Cody that she likes to have freedom and he always understood the dynamic of the relationship. They have been friends for years and will always be, and are currently fine and on great terms," the source added.
Another source told the outlet: "They are very happy together. She has a new house in LA and when she's in town, she has been spending most nights there," the insider shares. "She was out of town and they definitely missed each other. They reunited and you could see how happy they were to be back together again. It's clear they are very into each other."
"She has a busy schedule and a lot of work commitments that have kept them apart," the source explains. "But when they are together there's no doubt they are crazy about each other," the second source added.
