The death of character actor Mike Hagerty has left his fans devastated after his co-star Bridget Everett shared the tragic news on her Instagram page. The cause of Hagerty’s sudden demise is not known yet but it has been said that the 67-year-old star, known for his characters in ‘Friends’ as Mr. Treeger and in ‘Somebody Somewhere’ as Ed Miller, died on May 5.

Everett wrote on the social media platform: “With great sadness, the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles. HBO also issued a statement that read: “We are very saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Mike Hagerty. A member of the HBO family for many years, his most recent role as Bridget Everett’s father in “Somebody Somewhere” showed his special talent for bringing heart to a performance. Mike was a joy to work with and brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends."

Other than ‘Friends’ and ‘Somebody Somewhere’, Hagerty also played memorable roles in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Happy Endings’, ‘Boston Legal’, ‘Seinfeld’ and several others. A number of his fans and industry friends took to social media to pay him tribute and mourn the loss. Comedian Murray Hill commented below Everett’s post, “A tragic loss. The best dad 😢.” Richard Roeper, film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, tweeted: “Sad to hear of the passing of Second City stalwart and character actor Mike Hagerty, recently seen as the dad on "Somebody Somewhere" on @HBO . Loved him in Overboard, Friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm & (most recently) Somebody Somewhere. A great character actor. #RIPMikeHagerty.”

A fan tweeted, “R.I.P. Mike Hagerty. He was always good in whatever he played in but he truly left an impression as ‘D.P.’ in the ‘Dead Men Don’t Flush’ episode of ‘Martin’. Just as funny now as it was back when it aired.” “Rest In Peace to a great actor & Chicago native, Mike Hagerty. His countless roles included WAYNE'S WORLD, OVERBOARD, SO I MARRIED AN AXE MURDERER, DICK TRACY, RED HEAT, SPEED 2, BREWSTER'S MILLIONS, NOTHING IN COMMON, and AUSTIN POWERS THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME,” Music Box Theatre noted. “Mike Hagerty brought so much joy, humor, and warmth to all his performances, including his most recent role as Ed Miller in Somebody Somewhere.
